Looks like a much quieter week out there --- a lot of singles but I haven't really seen a full-length release that has me excited yet (but haven't looked much).
The one exception is Declaime and Madlib, "In the Beginning Vol I" which is re-surfaced stuff that they worked on together from the mid- or late-90s (?). Gave it a listen this morning -- it was actually pretty fun and has Madlib offering more straight-forward beats than we tend to hear from him now.
What's everyone checking for?
If you're looking to play catch up, don't sleep on that Evidence from last week -- really great project from start to finish.

The plan was to hit up a few record stores but life happened, so I'll try digging through crates before the summer is over. I did however cop some digital stuff that's been on my wishlist. This stuff didn't come out yesterday but...*shrug*
"VanJess is a duo made up of sisters Ivana and Jessica Nwokike. They're been signed for a while now. Couple EPs and slew of singles. They got a couple jams with Kaytranada, too. I discovered them here on IG."
Copped this based JUST on his IG post. And then copped...
DeePhunk mentioned this on twitter last week. I scrolled through it and really liked what I heard. Bought it. Nice short little EP. I don't know much about them other than they're Canadian.
This is from 2017. But listen, I can't sing this dude's praises enough. I'm a groove guy, and DJ HARRISON makes excellent groove joints. Fender rhodes, bass, drums. I'm on a mission to cop everything he's ever done.

Think I'm going to plan a record shopping trip for August or September depending on how $$$ looks. I'd stopped buying pre-COVID, started up again during COVID but all online --- eager to get back in a store or two, closest experience I've had since COVID is a Goodwill or two and the ones around me rarely have much to offer.

These folks are on my big to-listen-to playlist, need to check! Hope scorpion's doing well... there should be a master index of "Where did okps go..."

Getting ready to run errands and work in the yard all day, sounds like a good joint to work with -- thanks for the rec!

This is really solid but they should have just had Cordae sing the hook each time. Cordae might have the best performance of the three, too -- he's on a streak right now.
Was this an unreleased beat/track? Sounds familiar but I'm not deep into Nas's unreleased catalog.
