its alabama shakes minus brittany howard basically. you can really hear the alabama shakes sound in most of it. they have different singers on the songs. i do wish it was brittany howard on the songs but for what it is its still pretty good. a lot of great music in it.
IDK & Friends 2 is pretty good too
not sure if ill be shamed for this but im listening to the new ceelo and its sounds really good 😬
i think im going to check Adrian Younge presents Angela Munoz Introspection next

thanks for this! i feel kind of bad for them in the sense that their sort of center focus went off and is doing big things and, in a lot of those situations, the band just kind of gets left behind. looking forward to checking this out.

nice! what's the sound/production like?

Younge is everywhere right now, huh? Hadn't heard about this but he's on a roll right now.

I'll be honest and say I was underwhelmed. Really wanted to like it and totally see the vision for the project but it felt really tepid, sort of over-produced/over-planned to the point that the real star of the show - Ceelo's voice - never comes to the front of it all. He never sounds especially invested, either (though I love that he's spending more time with his lower voice and hope he continues to explore that).
I'll give it a few more spins for sure and might change my view but my first thought is that Auerbach and Ceelo never quite got on the same wavelength on this one.

hes much more subdued this way. ive kinda been skipping older ceelo stuff lately. i think partly because i got tired of his standard singing voice. so hearing him try a different voice for a whole album was interesting to me. im still pretty surprised at how much i liked it. its lessened on further listens a bit but overall i still have it pretty high.
i wouldnt go out of my way to recommend the album.

>Jessie Ware - What's Your Pleasure?
I figured she had something new out. I kept seeing articles/interviews show up in my feed.
>Khruangbin - Mordechai
I've had The Universe Smiles Upon You LP in my wishlist on bandcamp for months. My boy told me about them and that joint Mr. White is siiiiick. I gotta get on them. I've heard nothing but good things.

saw the Tiny Desk joint they did, and immediately checked for their stuff on itunes.
Been pumping that second album over and over again. August 10 is my joint!
Will probably zone out on their new joint all this week if it's hittin' the same as the first two albums. ______________________________________________________________________________

Starting off with Jessie Ware's and Ego Ella May's albums are great. Lord Finesse's remix album I made a post about will get some of that morning run.
(I really need to find some more Motown remix albums, I'm sure they're out there)
HAIM, Cee-Lo and Arca (with her weird ass) will get some repeated listens too!
The last Ras G album that he turned in (I do wonder if they'll release any vaulted stuff from him?) Raw Fruit 5 & 6 sounded good this morning too....will play that as background music.

Not familiar with Ego Ella May and almost forgot about that Lord Finesse album - yeah, lots to check out this week.
That Jessie Ware is going to get a lot out of play for a while. I love her so much and wish she got more attention here in the US. This manages to be a disco/dance homage without feeling either karaoke or cloying... because she somehow always knows what to bring to a project to make it her own. So much attention to detail. Love it.

See Arca mentioned a lot but never listened --- any ideas on where to start? Haven't gotten to Cee-lo yet but that HAIM might be my favorite from them so far. It sounds like the record I've wanted them to make since their debut - like you could hear the end goal but their stuff never quite made it there. This one gets there and goes beyond.

So she was like, "Well just go buy $160 worth of music online." Maaaan, you ain't said nothing but a word. Headed over to my Bandcamp wishlist and copped these.
