First impression? I love that they're clearly exploring various soundscapes and production on this project. Looking forward to hearing the whole album.
Also, digging the additional female vocals in the chorus of the studio track for "Color my life" (as opposed to just Bardo's/male vocals on the track in the music video).

Also, the band did an 'Invisible People' Listening Party via YouTube livestream tonight: https://youtu.be/3HPvmiPGJv8
Couldn't fully listen, as I'm trying to meet a work deadline. What I did hear was dope. Love that they're expanding their sound. Ready to absorb the record.

I own everything they’ve made. This one just misses me, and I can accept a miss every blue moon just as long as there’s tons of great music in between.

If you genuinely don't like 80s pop, I obviously can't force you into embracing the production direction, lol. But each of the above songs have varying degrees of soul or funk elements in the song structure or production. They haven't wholly abandoned that sound. To my ears, anyway.
I encourage you to at least give those songs another chance.

With me usually what I hear the first time around is how I’m going to feel about a record 5, 10, or 50 spins later. Musically doesn’t magically get better the more I listen to it.

Certainly, they’ve purposely shifted from foregrounding the organ or soul elements to their sound, but believe they’ve at least married much of their previous musical interests with the new production direction. Okay, I’ll stop with the hard sell, lol.
And meant to say “soul or funk OR ROCK” elements above.

I like it, I went into the album knowing not to expect their sound from the previous album and I enjoyed it. Sounds like a summer album, will give it a few more spins after work

just cruising around my neighbourhood. it was a bit damp out because it's been raining off and on all day. damn this album felt like a VIBE just riding around on the empty streets.
