I don't know who this is or where he came from but this album from late last year is ridiculously good and very unique. It's an electronic record but with a lot of live instrumentation touching on a really wide range of genres/moods... bits of new classical and even metal pop up alongside more predictable flashes of dance, drum + bass, etc. Honestly, I'm not sure what to make of it or how to classify it other than to say it's really good and worth a listen. Bits and pieces remind me of a lot of my favorite producer acts like Cinematic Orchestra and Shadow.
Only complaints might be length, and there's also a narration feature that pops up throughout the album that I could do without.
Bonus: I missed that Amon Tobin released a new album late last year, too. Checking that out next.
