was thinking about the new Micheal Kiwanuka album, and it goes hard, and I'm like, if you are finished with your third album, and you're putting your name on it, you know as an artist they feel like its some truly DEFINING music.
so i have a hunch that any eponymous album that is not an artists debut is probly a killer fucking record. And i know there are a few, but not a ton.

because he did in fact have an eponymous debut as well, but his first TWO albums are called 'seal' im not a seal fan, but curious to know - which is better?

Eponymous is the first greatest hits and the second compilation album by American alternative rock band R.E.M., released in 1988. It was their last authorized release on I.R.S. Records, to whom they had been contracted since 1982, having just signed with Warner Bros. Records.

Peter Gabriel (also known as Peter Gabriel 1 or Car) (1977) <-Skip it for this post Peter Gabriel (also known as Peter Gabriel 2 or Scratch) (1978) Peter Gabriel (also known as Peter Gabriel 3 or Melt) (1980) Peter Gabriel (also known as Peter Gabriel 4 or Security) (1982)

I never knew they were all self-titled. same with the Weezer post up above. in some way, all an artist's albums being named after the artist kinda makes sense.
First album was Chicago Transit Authority (though they had to change it after release as IL wasn't to keen on the name)
