I love hip hop concept albums. This is honestly picking up where "To Pimp A Butterfly" left off. Same lush musicianship, just a different story. I'm not ready to label this the album of the year, but MAN... also...(ahem)...CHICAGO STAND UP!

- Didn't like that Phonte didn't have a verse on Back in the Day (he's on the chorus). - The 3rd Act wasn't my thing (Nappy Hair, Homecoming)
Other than that, it's a very cohesive album. Even the skits work which is rare in hip hop. But yeah, I kept thinking of "Butterfly" while listening to this. Maybe it was the heavy saxophone work that was used throughout.

I enjoyed some of the tale of two cities way back but haven't listened for years, but it seems like his proper albums from more recent years are on another level
