because ya seems like Damu is hitting a stride but whats up with these 12+ min tracks? They're not even really going anywhere. I mean i dig them, but i dont need to listen to the same beat for 12 mins.

ya the nuance is waaay too subtle to carry for 12 mins. For my taste anyway. they just dont hold my attention for that long. They're all dope beats. But sorely lacking kind of sonic statement that i need/expect out of a 12 minute track.

I love it - not sure what you're looking for (and of course it's fine not to dig it) but what has really engaged me with damu's stuff is how layered it is and how much development there is over the course of a given piece --- sometimes that development is slower and more subtle, other times more obvious, but it's always really really well constructed and thought out... he's clearly approaching his work as a craft in the truest sense. And that's in the really long pieces on Vignettes but also in the beats on that Blu joint - it's in just about everything I've heard from him so far.
It reminds me of someone like Shadow's classic work - it has that epic quality and attention to detail.
im still not huge on roc but ill check for him. the beat is nice. is this just a single or is there a project coming? i see damu has a song with talib (time leak) and another one with doom (coco mango) too.
the talib one goes, going to check out the doom one after.
