I follow Nia Andrews on IG and I think she posted some sessions on her stories because I remember her showing Herbie Hancock in the background. I had no clue that footage was for a mixtape recording! I think it was the same day she had Glasper on record saying her teenage son (with Karriem Riggins) was better than most jazz drummers on the scene today...
The mixtape is available for purchase on most major sites, though not Bandcamp + Spotify.

Glasper always puts on a good show. I saw him last year when he did his first residency at the BN. Taylor McFerrin was sitting in with his band.
Not sure what to take away with this fuck your feelings trip he's on. On one hand, its pushing jazz towards interesting directions. But the other hand, it comes across distasteful rather than, artful.
Already sat through it a few times and I'm pretty much done with it. Nice try tho.

and at the time, i didn't know they were playing tracks from this album. the beats were so banging! thought i was listening to them rehearsing on stage, very raw.

a little on the fringes, i'm not sure what has happened...actually, a lot has happened in this world. good to go for this release but, i've seen things 'progress' to this point.

The first time was here in Atlanta at a free festival and he was literally saying shit like “i dont care what y’all say i already got my money” like man what?!
Would probably see him/them in a smaller setting again...maybe
he said the same thing in d.c. and it really disturbed me. he better make the money while he can, there are some great artists out here.

seems you like alfa at least. that UK jazz scene is so fresh, i hate to compare it to the jazz here in the states but, maaannn UK could give them a run for the money. kinda mad yussef kamaal isn't together anymore but going to see kamaal williams in DC, can't wait.

The entire UK jazz scene is killing the US right now. It’s going to be a while before they recover. Don’t sleep on that Japanese jazz scene as well. They’ve been doing it for years. If it weren’t for the artists coming out of Chicago, the US would be further behind.
Getting back to Glasper...
It’s really hard to get into him because he seems too locked in trying to merge jazz/hip hop/soul. His style is not changing all that much. This sounds similar to that R + R = NOW, and Black Radio.
