Quasi-related side bar: my absolute favorite song from Pharoahe Monch is, and will always be, “The Light” from his debut solo album Internal Affairs.
Now that that’s out of the way, Monch really is an alien. Alongside guitarist Marcus Machado and drummer Daru Jones, the trio have unveiled their new group TH1RT3EN, and released their debut record.
On the Nottz-produced offering, they celebrate the finale “Palindrome Week” of this century with a lyrically intense groove. Do yourself a favor, press play and follow along with the lyric video below.

I've said this here before but just hearing him rap makes me giddy and happy. Dude is so damn talented and so likable. I love his voice too. He injects fun to his rhymes too.
I've always said the same thing(s) about Gift of Gab. When either MC comes up on my Spotify playlist on shuffle I can feel myself getting happier lol.
And yes "The Light" is SO DOPE. Gonna listen to it now. Back when it was released I listened to it multiple times per day. Haven't heard it in a minute at this point though.

I was kind of hesitant about it, cause I basically like him over sampled joints rather than the band stuff, so I was waiting until something dropped before posting about it; and surprisingly this has that hard drums boom-bap sound I like, the bassline seems flat but overall this is nice.
But yeah he is still one of my favorite emcees, he just doesn't always deliver what I'm expecting from him, I never know what I'm going to get with him lately, just glad he's making new tunes.
