This was TOUGH to do.

Tender Love - Force MDs
Human - Human League
Saturday Love - Cherrelle & Alexander O'Neal
Can You Stand the Rain? - New Edition
Tell Me If You Still Care - SOS Band

I was tempted to list a gang of honorable mentions but that started to feel like I was cheating.

Alexander O'Neal - Sunshine
Alexander O'Neal - Criticize
Johnny Gill - Giving My All To You
Mary J Blige - No More Drama
SOS Band - Just Be Good To Me
SOS Band- No One's Gonna Love You
SOS Band - The Finest
Herb Alpert - Making Love in the Rain
Ralph Tresvant - Sensitivity
Ralph Tresvant - Rated R

'Rain' is the quintessential ballad (so much so they redid the same formula on Rewrite The Memories), but Johnny took them to church and back on 'Heartbreak'

It's hard to imagine as a kid jamming to the music of Flyte Tyme that Jimmy Jam would eventually become my follower on Twitter today.

Cherelle's Encore was one of those songs that really stood out to me as a kid and started my love for music. That's one hell of a groove.

Optimistic is so uplifting

Human is as well and one of the reasons why I delved deep into 80's Pop

I love Alexander O'Neal's What Can I Say To Make You Love Me

S.O.S. Band's The Finest

I like when top 5 producer posts go up because it gives me an excuse to look through the discography.

I always look at the stuff I own first, and yeah I didn't know Jam & Lewis did this for Gwen Stefani's first solo album.

When I first saw this post I wanted to avoid it cause I knew that it would be kind of hard to chose just a top five of James & Terry; but after weeks of seeing this post I decided to sit down and come up with a list, but after a few days I couldn't do just a top five, so I decided to do a top ten list of songs written & produced by them that isn't a Janet Jackson song; so here you go...

(1) New Edition "If It Isn't Love"
(2) Sounds Of Blackness "Optimistic"
(3) Alexander O'Neal feat. Cherrelle "Never Knew Love Like This"
(4) S.O.S. Band "No One's Gonna Love You"
(5) Human League "Human"
(6) Ralph Tresvant "Sensitivity"
(7) Mariah Carey "Petals"
(8) Cherrelle feat. Alexander O'Neal "Saturday Love"
(9) Ralph Tresvant "Money Can't Buy You Love"
(10) New Edition "Can't You Stand The Rain"

and a bonus goes to: Luther Vandross & Janet Jackson "Money Can't Buy You Love" (sorry but I had to put this on the list, plus it's not just a Janet song, it's got Ralph Tresvant, Mike Bivins, and Ronnie DeVoe singing on it as well).

Also I know there are UK single & double disc versions of Janet's "Design Of A Decade" compilation that have "Best Things In Life Are Free (CJ Mackintosh Remix)" on it but isn't on any of the US versions, maybe that's the version you have.
