"Poll question: What format are you listening to HIP-HOP?"
My internet went out recently for a couple days, and I quickly found myself listening to my Vinyl and taking a break from calling on Alexa to play something from Spotify. At work I stream music the whole time (sitting at a computer) but at home I would really like to get back to the cadence of listening to records.

BUT thats with unlimited data and basically free google play music subscription (paid via google rewards credits). of course i use the offline feature so there are some MP3 including songs that are not in their service.
trying to keep your phone up to date with the newest MP3s is a bit of a hassle.
trying to listen to everything in analog??? i cant imagine that anymore. i could see doing it for specific albums when you really want to just vibe out.
if i didnt do streaming then it would be 100% MP3 for sure.

MP3. With streaming too, but I purchase just about everything I listen to because I don't trust not having a library of which I have complete control. I own literally 99.995% of my streaming library.

is this albums that you go back to or if you want to check out a new album you will buy it??? are there albums you wont listen to because you havent purchased??
i do buy albums that i want to support especially from artists that i know dont get much exposure. i need to be better at that and i have bought less since i started streaming. i do like buying CDs here and there just to support more but at most i will only listen to the flac download i purchased if it is not the stream. not the CD.

Google music lets you upload your own music so that's the majority of my stuff. I pay for streaming though so I have access to everything. If I like an album I add it to my library and If I still rock with it after a few weeks or so I buy it(which lets me download it as MP3s).
I probably seems convoluted, but it keeps me focused. I remember to keep listening to the streaming stuff because I'm evaluating if I want to purchase it, if not I remove it from the library and move on.

thats what i love about streaming. you have instant access to virtually everything. you can still purchase albums you want to without having to worry of losing them at some point.
people that dont stream at all havent really tried it im guessing.

if you use the icloud music library, you can just throw an album on your computer and it shows up everywhere else instantly. I have the same library available to me on my home computer, work computer, phone, tablet - any updates i make in one place (adding music, fucking with playlists, etc), happens everywhere else automatically
streaming is probly your only practical option bummer i kinda stick my nose up at all them shits, largely because im just flexing my nerd bonafides like "pick a service, tidal, apple, pandora, whateverthefuck, and ill find you an album that i cant live without that ain't on there"
thats when you do need to get an mp3 version on your phone. good thing is that you can mix it in with your other playlists so you can listen to both the streams and your local files.
if you do have a computer you can upload it and stream it on any device as well.

Mostly streaming - at this point, it is as much about when and where I can listen to music as anything else. I tend to listen on daily walks, short commute time, and while cleaning doing other things around the house - so I download new albums to my phone a few times a week.

The AUX cable hookup I used to use sometimes is busted and I've done nothing to try and fix it. I don't really use streaming services like that, maybe Spotify at work sometimes. I don't listen to music as much at home lately but when I do I'd put on a record.
15. "Mostly streaming but also MP3's ripped from CD's" In response to Reply # 0
If there's an album that I really like and want a high-quality version I'll buy a CD and rip it. While streaming money works out better than the Napster / MegaUpload days, the royalties aren't as good as a physical copy. In that case, I'll buy the album online.
But I stream throughout the day unless the internet on my computer is slow. Then I'll pull up Windows Media Player and listen to MP3's from my laptop. Access to music is too convenient to overlook.

I have a pretty sizeable iTunes library, as much as I hate the software (even more so now that I get ads for Apple Music every few weeks) I haven't found an alternative I'm comfortable switching to.
I do still buy MP3s occasionally (on 7 Digital mostly), and also torrent some stuff if I buy the vinyl and it doesn't come with a DL code. My boy hooked me up with a Google Play invite, so I stream as well, but it's mostly to try out stuff or I have a playlist from stuff I shazam off the radio.
Maybe it's an age thing but I've slowed down on acquiring/listening to new stuff, there's just too much to get through and I'd rather enjoy what I have

pretty much mp3s exclusively. I don't use my phone for music, tho; got myself a used iPod 6th gen loaded up with tunes, 2005-style! even stuff I buy from Bandcamp gets downloaded and is very rarely streamed. never used Spotify.
I love vinyl, but don't really buy Hip Hop on wax these days ...though I may make an exception for 'Bandana' cuz I like the cover 8')
