"New Flying Lotus "

More f./ Anderson .Paak

Takashi

Spontaneous f./ Little Dragon

Not sure if these were posted but just want to get some thoughts about the songs.

Seems like beat changes and a smoother sound are the themes for this set of singles. Looking forward to hearing an album of songs like these.

I’m hype for the new album. Sounds like it will again have jazz fusion on it
ala You’re Dead but will sound BRIGHTER.

i think its going to be his return to form.
he turned into a really dark direction and i believe this will be a nice mixture of many of the things that made him who he is

watch out - fire is coming

To people like US, a record is a piece of history. A moment in time.
Most people don't get it.

On point...the more I have listened, the Lynch skit is what sets off the type of Flying Lotus I dig...

...and he actually did. The guests don't get drowned out or overpower and there's some dope beats among the songs.

Need to get the pop-up vinyl soon!

Comes was almost too chill. I just want some creative beats I can zone out to. When it gets too chaotic I kinda lose interest. His live show has changed a lot as well. Definitely sounds more experimental and doesn't really let some of his stuff breath. I respect the hell out of him and his talent, just haven't loved much since Cosmogramma.

he'll have a banger here or there where it fits and works (k.dot's Momma for ex) but generally it just sounds like someone who hasn't figured out the timing on their MPC

I found out via Shabazz Palaces's IG account, out of all places. I didn't know it was coming out today.

I just heard the first single a few days ago, and I somehow missed this thread when it went live.

I was looking at this album on Google Play and my immediate thought was Warp Records?

FlyLo doesn't release music on Brainfeeder, his own label?

after previewing it, but I'm gonna wait and see if an instrumental version is released, similar to You're Dead. I really like the track with Little Dragon, but for all the rest, I'd rather just have the raw tunes.

Feels like all of the touring he's done in the last few years has translated to a more upbeat sound

Like he's making some of the music for what he knows will work in live venues

Still gets dark at some points...more noticeable toward the end of the album

But there's so much great music on here...the slower tempo tracks are almost a welcome break...and that makes them easier to digest and holds interest

Really, REALLY enjoyed the tracks with MCs on them...and I really appreciate him handing off the Captain Murphy mic duties

Jawns I spent entire days on repeat;

FlyLo is like Herbie Hancock as a hip-hop producer
