""Come and Get it" Rick James is 40"

what a debut album by the last true great King of Funk Music.

"You and I" was a Mother of a cut and then you got "Mary Jane" which growing up in Buffalo that song had been out a few years before it hit nationally.

this was a strong album and Rick James was a strong writer and artist. after having one off deals and being in the business since the 60's RJ finally hit it all the way through with this album

mistermaxxx R.Kelly, Michael Jackson,Stevie wonder,Rick James,Marvin Gaye,El Debarge, Barry WHite Lionel RIchie,Isleys EWF,Lady T.,Kid creole and coconuts,the crusaders,kc sunshine band,bee gees,jW,sd,NE,JB

At the time I mostly listened to AM radio, 70s soft rock

Hanging out with my older cousins they were like naw you need to be hip to this

They played me this and Parliament, I’ve been hooked on the Funk ever since.

While Rick is often thought of as a singles artist, "hollywood" and the Stone City groove-intro are ace deep-cuts IMO. Dream maker is a good slow jam as well, very nice arrangements and with a doo-wop throwback vibe in the hook... "Sexy lady" is dope too, only song I don't care for is "be my lady" which is on the bad side of disco IMO
