"Your rhymes'll do this... your rhymes'll do that..."
Happy BDay Jay-Z.
Anybody remember what song this bar is from? It's from a demo or remix version of Can't Knock the Hustle, Politics as Usual, In My Lifetime...
one of those early Jay records..
Jay has said he wrote that in response to the rappity rap guys always saying oh my raps can do this and raps can do that and how he hated that style and tried to move away from it.
I know I only threw out one bar.. but pretty sure I first learned about it from this site many years ago.

was gonna be a one producer album and just was like what?! I don't even get a chance to get on the album? Jay saId nah - this is what I want to do. The producer then sent over a ton of beats and everybody including Just was like no way - all these beats are trash.
I want to know who the producer was. At first I thought - hmmmm... maybe Jay wanted to rock with Preem again after BP1 and thinking ... They gonna buy whatever I make and it's gonna be hot because I'm in my zone. But... then remembered Preem does beats in studio with whoever he's working with.
So maybe was timbaland? timbaland had one beat on that album. the joint with that terrible Ye verse. the beat sounded like neptunes imo.
I was listening to So Ghetto today. I'd love to hear JAY one or two more times over Preem. I'm sure Jay has heard Prhyme and thought - yeah Preem still got it.
