"Are you guys familiar with Abhi//Dijon?"
Thu Jan-19-17 11:32 AM by Marbles

I did a search and didn't find anything.

I was literally put on to them this morning by a friend of mine. I've only listened to the Montana EP but I'm feeling it. "Often" is the stand out track for me.

This article describes them as "moody R&B," and I guess that's accurate. They're certainly an R&B act but I feel like they do need some type of description to go with that. I haven't found the words yet.

Maybe a little outdated, but could be spiced up with Timbo/Pharrell

They have two other EPs, Stay Up and a self-titled one. But I agree, "moody r&b" is such a vague label, I have a hard time classifying them myself. Here's a zip file with both of those EPs

I'm moving on to the self-titled one now.

It's very mellow and laid back. Also, there's no real hint of hip-hop influence on anything I've heard yet.

Also that 2014 collection.

They're hard to put down once you start going.

He's only got 5 solo tracks on Spotify but I'm on the bandwagon.

"Stranger" is the standout cut for me. The others are

Skin
Nico's Red Truck
Wild
Violence)

Stay Up is fantastic.
2014 is a collection of loosies. It's also great.
I don't know if their soundcloud is still intact, but they had some really good remixes on there.

Some of my fav remixes: Young (Joseph L 'Étranger & Shaunic Remix) / Let Me Know (dpat & atu remix) / Every Little World (Abhi//Dijon Remix) / Pretend (A/D Remix)

I'm sad they never blew, but I'm happy we got all this music.

edit: Just realized this is an old thread, and I posted it in before. This reply is better, at least.

Man, I feel like the music is more than good enough to be successful. But is the sound outdated? Unfortunately, R&B doesn't sound like this anymore.

Yeah, I just upped this post since I found Dijon's solo stuff.

if they were ever lucky enough to link up. I feel that would be the perfect lane for them.

Been playing his last album, Absolutely, all weekend long. It's got a cool "live" visual film as well. This all came out over a year ago, and I'm just blown away really. Just really excited about what he's going to do next. I'm now a fan.

Looking back at his older stuff along with the Abhi/Dijon stuff, he really went in a much more raw and eclectic direction.
