"does TI not know he's a loser?"

circa 2006, TI really was poised to be the next Jay-Z. Huge hits, crossover appeal, and a unique flow. He was a bonafide star, and the run of the King album into "Live Your Life" and "Whatever You Like" was undeniable.

That all came crashing down quite abruptly didn't it?:
http://airbornecombatengineer.typepad.com/photos/weapons_fireams/tiguncollection.jpg

and shortly after:
http://www.mtv.com/news/1647068/ti-tiny-arrested-for-pills-that-resembled-ecstasy-police-allege/

now he can't buy a hit, and to make him all the more annoying he's got an awful lot to say about the current political climate, recently lashing out at black leaders like MLK3 and Jim Brown for meeting with Trump. Man, what the hell did you ever do other than fuck up? These guys are actually trying to invoke real change in their communities, and not because a judge told them they had to.

I can't recall another rapper I loved so much having such a steep self-induced fall from grace. It's a shame.

Or crying loud as fuck because he wasn't able to use his success in one industry to just walk right in to another industry.

We saw TI release a damn good album in response to our current social and political climate... but we saw Ye pander to one of the chief elements that currently fuels said climate.

LOL@an MC with one of the most consistent catalogs in the last 15

A street dude who understandably didn't quite get entirely out of street business right away but still went on to release several good, very good, and even great albums after the gun charge is a loser?

I see incredibly stupid perspectives are still your stock in trade.

I think I heard Paper Trail a few times and thought it was garbage, mighta listened to the stream of Trouble Man when folks in here hyped it, sounded like another lifeless TI album, which was disappointing after Hear Ye, Here Ye and Sorry beforehand.

But the last album of his that I liked that I owned was probably King, last one that I loved was probably Trap Muzik, though ASAP off Urban Legend is probably my favorite song he ever made.

I'm not sure what that has to do with his activism though, hopefully he's making an impact with that even if I'm not checking for his music or his reality show.

Dude still has hella jams, but it's true that no label is gonna throw a bunch of money around to promote his stuff cuz you never know when another thing is gonna happen. So yeah, maybe he 'squandered' his shot to be Drake, but he still did and does aight. And when I check for the stuff he makes, I come away not sad about it.

I learned long ago to not get too concerned about stuff that rappers say when they aren't rapping. I can appreciate the sentiments/intentions when they are trying or laugh when it is something funny/silly, but I don't 'care' per se. There's just too many folks hooked up to the volume now with social media and the innanet in general.

Y'all got me thinking differently.

I'm disappointed in his recent output. And I think the high horse approach is a bad look for someone who was as dangerous as he was.

But I thought about it, that was a while ago. And "What You Know" is still impeccable.

So clown. I deserve it.

Be well.

What's fucked is that you actually had a quality post embedded in there. Had you taken the tact of "why can't T.I just embrace his success enough to step away from the street shit completely, he could be in a much higher level" then this would have been something worthwhile.

You still would have caught Kanye shrapnel but it would have taken the same basic premise in a more productive direction.

never thought of him as a album act, however the cat got a strong acting career and he ain't hurting in the hustling department.

i bet Lil Flip would love to have TI. Problems?

TI got a second act in his career going now as a Cat from the south only Ludacris and Andre 3000 got a bit more on the plate, however TI in act 2 with his acting hustle and visibility is right there.

TI got alot of milage out of his run. glad to see him speakijng out.
