"What Are Some of the DOPEST & WACKEST R&B Remakes?"

For this week's episode of my podcast we're chopping it up about the dopest R&B remakes based off a convo I was having with my man JR about the Sparkle soundtrack remake of Hooked On Your Love that I rocked with but that he thought was wack as hell. Of course, my question for cats this week is what are some of the dopest & wackest R&B remakes and why?

My jawns are a clump of Luther songs with him redoing The Carpenters "Superstar", Dionne Warwick's "A House Is Not A Home" and Brenda Russell's "If Only For One Night." #2 is Xscapes' cover of The Jones Girls "Who Can I Run To" #3 is Jodeci's cover of Stevie's "Lately", #4 is Maxwell's cover of Kate Bush's The Woman's Work and #5 is Troop's cover of the Jackson 5's All I Do Is Think of You. And for the wackest I've got is Ginuwine's cover of Prince's "When Doves Cry", Kelly Price's cover of Shirley's "As We Lay" and this live performance of Ashanti trying to remake Whitney's "I Have Nothing."

And in case cats don't have time to peep the whole show and wanna get straight to the convo, skip to the 18:27 mark and you're good money.

Tracklisting:
Only You (Remix) - 112
Like This & Like That - Monica
I Changed My Mind - Keisha Cole
Get On Up - Jodeci
Killing Me Softly - The Fugees
Bite The Bullet - Melanie Fiona
Since I Seent You - Anthony Hamilton
Got Til It's Gone - Janet Jackson
Without You - Lucy Pearl
I Can Love You - Mary J. Blige

That was just a bad idea.

Always liked K-Ci's "If You Think you're Lonely Now".

The "Will You Go With Me?" mixtape for this chick Netta Brielle from the Bay. Sadly, I tracked the OG's that didn't end up making the cut. Some of the tracks were done by Rock City/R. City/Planet VI or whatever their names are this week. She did "Breaking My Heart" by Mint Condition, "Don't Walk Away" by Jade, and "Rain" by SWV.

The Prince cover works because he didn't try to just copy Prince. And as much as I love Ohio Players, D kinda owned that cover

Off the top of my head...R Kelly's Sadie, K Ci's If You Think You're Lonely and Intro's Ribbon In The Sky. Worst...Al B's Hotel California. I'll never understand who or why anybody let him come out with that 2nd album smdh.
