""Everybody" vs "Get On The Floor""

Hey folks,

Haven't been here in quite a while - but I was listening to the Jackson's Triumph today and a question hit me that I had to come here for: Has there ever been an explanation offered for the similarities between "Everybody" from Triumph and "Get On The Floor" from Off The Wall?

Elements of the groove, certain lines and phrasing, etc are damn near identical. Given that these records were produced/released pretty much back to back, that can't have been accident, can it?

Any one know?

i mean, sorta in the lyrics -

Get on the floor
And dance with me
I love the way you shake your thang
Especially

vs.

Everybody
Get down on the floor
I love the way you shake your thang
You make me want some more

...anyway, MJ cowrote and coproduced both songs - that helps explain the similarities, i think.

fuck you.

Love both songs though. Everybody has that mean pre chorus in it. Everybody is a lot smoother vocally. Get On The Floor has that unforgettable baseline and Michael has a loud vocal on that one

MJ cut very similar sounding tracks.

"the Hurt" with randy had a striking vibe to Centepede

and state of shock and Black or White.

Be Not always and Childhood.

MJ had a certain styling formula.

everybody was a album cut as was get on the floor meaning in MJ's world

only the music geeks would take notice, everybody else
would say those are cool 2nd tier filler album tracks.
