"I saw Kendrick last night. He played one new song."

WTF?

Can anyone give me a halfway reasonable explanation as to why he'd play only one song from To Pimp a Butterfly? People were disappointed, including myself.

Unless he closed out the fest I understand why he wouldn't get into those songs.

And that was the "Women, Weed & Weather" Dre collab that I don't think even made the album except maybe as a bonus track.

And that was the encore with Dre coming out to perform it with him.

Everything else was from Overly Dedicated, Section 80 or features (The Game came out for the song off his album, TI on another).

*shrugs*

Guess he likes people to let new material sink in before basing sets around it.

It was still a great show and blew every opening act (Ab-Soul, Jay Rpck, Stalley, others I'm forgetting) off the stage.

It's weird tho re: To Pimp, I know it didn't really have traditional singles but the debut didn't really either.....but even here in LA, outside of King Kunta it's not something I'm really hearing while out and about.

When it came out there was a lot of discussion and general praise but then it sorta slid out of public consciousness.

Even myself who considers Kendrick to be the best hip-hop artist to debut in this millennium, I've listened to Earl and Snoop a lot more than the Kendrick album.

Wouldn't have predicted that.

words to describe that album.

Since the average folk is able to drop at least a 50 word review of an album/movie you must be basically illiterate.

it's not hittin is probably the most honest negative response you'll hear about the album. too many folks stay trying to negotiate their feelings on an album instead of just saying they think it's wack.

if it was hitting breh would be playing it, he'd have hits and it wouldn't have came and went so quickly. really the critic and public reaction to it is a carbon copy of yeezus but yall hated that so... *sips tea*

lol at judging the quality of an album by his "hits".

gawd you're even dumber than i ever thought. you're like the average commenter under youtube videos or datpiff mixtapes. fast food opinions that don't really belong here.

oh and i loved yeezus.

"it's not hitting" means it's wack. not sure what's not to understand about the meaning.

its really only about 3 or 4 hot joints (TPTB, For Sale, Hood Politics and Wesley Theory) on that album.

the rest are either ruined by mashing together too many questionable ideas, plain out boring songwriting or being poor outkast/roots bites. i'd have to subject myself to that weedplate to give you more than that.

i havent given up on kendrick tho. he's been great before and he can be again.
