I saw it at UNiversal Amphitheater a few years back and it was just a parade of reandom people, coming out singing partial versions of random songs and Stevie making like a 20 min appearance at the end.
My wife is the BIGGEST Stevie fan, and even she swore she would neer go to another HFOT.

and the band and the singers and the orchestra. all were great.
but the fucking AUDIENCE sucked. i thought i was at Stevie's funeral - everyone was so reverential and quiet and seated for most of the show. even during 'Sir Duke' which just BEGS for ppl to get up and dance. i got up for 'I Wish' and felt bad b/c only me and the homie were up out of our seats. and so when 'As' came and no one got up i was sorely disappointed. i couldn't take it so for 'Another Star' i ran to the stairs near my seats and danced my ass off b/c that's my motherfucking jam and the song i was most excited to hear. ppl finally got up for 'Superstition' which was like the last or next to last song, i think. it was god damned pitiful. especially b/c the last time i saw Stevie was at the Taste of Chicago and that show was a party for 3 hrs. it was all dancing and singing and joy and awesomeness in the audience - including an Electric Slide w/hundreds of ppl during 'Superstition'. so for this audience to be so dead was a disappointment.
but overall it was a great show and i'm glad i was there.

When the beat dropped for AS we immediately got up. That said I wanted to be up for Summersoft and Ordinary Pain. Hell Sir Duke also. Folks are just old and acting that way I guess plus with a show that big it's mixed company. It's like when the wife and I saw Motown the musical and she said she wish it was only Black folks in the audience. Different experience.

i had a hard time staying down for that one but i made myself b/c i'd been up for all of 'I Wish'. lol
yeah...i think you're right about the mixed audience. the Taste crowd was mixed too but b/c that show was free there were more lively folks mixed in and we dominated the atmosphere. whereas w/this show ppl paid top dollar and the top dollar payors do tend to wanna stay seated - b/c they old and/or too-cool and/or stuck-up. i usually don't kick it w/them. LOL

Affordable tickets so Geraldine and em' can come out and show out. There's no reason why the steps of MSG weren't filled with folks dancing to Another Star and AS. Makes me so happy to have the Wonderful parties with DJ Spinna.

and it was amazing. I honestly shed some tears during the opening of “Love's in Need of Love Today”, the first song off the album. The crowd was dope. all ages, all races, India Arie was on point, and the sound was super robust. Not mention, as previously stated, Stevie was in fine fucking form. Sounded incredible. 3+ hours, entire SITKOL, plus his encore medley of go to hits.
Here is a little write up of show plus youtube lianks....

ran on like an hour of sleep monday--completely worth it and then some.
i love how he poured himself into every single moment..like i remember his harmonica solo on "easy goin evening" vividly (i almost never make it there when i listen at home)--best arena show i've ever seen.
not sure if whole tour is sold out by now, but if any west coast people are on the fence about dropping more than they wanted on stubhub tix..you won't regret it

Like it was stated before, it was chilling. The sound was amazing for such a big venue. Mouse and the band were amazing I lost it when he sat down on the guitar box during I am singing
Saw him live out here a few years back, truly incredible and one of the best shows I have ever seen….the vibes in the venue only added to his greatness...

and ive got to say, it was an amazing evening, an incredible experience he broke down crying at 3 different points. like, he was sobbing the entire second verse of summer soft. it was so emotional. but sonically, this was NOT the religious experience i wanted it to be stevie's voice is still impeccable but his band is TOO big. when you've got that many musicians, it takes a lot of the personality out of the music. the soul of it gets lost in the arrangement, and it has that bland over polished feel. granted, we're still talking about SITKOL, so the music at the heart of it is still perfection, but it felt really bloated.
