"Where does Easy Mo Bee rank amongst producers?"
Thu Jul-10-14 11:57 AM by illEskoBar221

Is he in th nottz DJ scratch buckwild batch
Or the rock wilder megahertz and those niggas who
Produced those forgettable busta rhymes albums

No disrespect to rock wilder or megahertz btw

Warning
Flava in ya ear
Lex coupes bimmers and Benz
Going back to Cali
I love the dough
The best joints on "me against the world"

Dude had a sound that was gritty,
So east coast. I always liked his drums
And his sample selection.

Shit even going back to Cali had a gritty sound to it

Seems like his contributions
To the mid 90s rap scene get swept under the rug

Wasn't dude the only producer to work
With biggie and PAC while they were alive
I could be wrong but I think he is

I think his less than harmonious relationship with Puffy (some call it a blackball) ultimately led him away from the level of success and recognition he should have received.

One of the illest beats ever created, IMO. He had such a sneaky ear for samplessome say that "Everything Remains Raw" is a couple notes from the very end of Miles Davis - "Bess, You Is My Woman Now".amazing if true.

And if you haven't heard the source for "The What"..man..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK0j1ehHZLs

Oh and here's the one that everyone's been looking for:

Craig Mack - "Flava In Ya Ear" (Remix) samples O'Donel Levy - "We've Only Just Begun."

Another INCREDIBLE flip. Two notes, hard drums, instant classic. I could have started a separate post for this. Not sure how many are aware.

Long live Easy Mo Bee.

It's obvious that it ain't the Mecca sample. It's a horn. The Mecca "flip" is a guitar. Listen to the Bucktown loop. That's what it is.

....that was my intro to miles' work....there were a few solid tracks on that album too..
i've always wondered how Mo Bee felt about that project in retrospect...

Definitely one of the greats in my book though

In response to Reply # 0

Back when the Wu first got big, RZA said all these other producers were hitting them up, wanting to work with them. At the time, he said that the only outside producer they were going to fool with was Easy Moe, because he showed them love from the beginning. And he indeed produced a whole chunk of "Word From a Genius."
