They're basing it on the sound of his voice (which isn't identical) and are completely ignoring his pronunciation of words.

They put an effect on the vocs so it'd be trickier to tell. This complex story is made up. But i like the movement

I'm not going to act like their voices don't have similarities at times but there are more things pointing to it not being Nas.

I feel like people are only listening to the tone of his voice.

But he definitely doesn't pronounce specific words like Nas does.

He definitely has different phrasing than Nas does.

And if you've listened to Nas since 1994 through now, you would know that Nas just wouldn't say some of the things this guy is saying. He wouldn't write hooks the way this guy is writing hooks. He wouldn't handle concepts like this.

There's just NO WAY this is Nas. I can't believe people entertained this more so than Angelous or the other cat that sounded like Biggie back in the day.

There is a clear distinction in their pronounciation and their artistry.

I don't see the similarity between Nas and Droog, but I DO see a similarity between Droog and this rapper Invisible. Used to have a CD out in like 2001 maybe 2002. CD cover had a picture of him walking through Sunset Park I think...

Anyway Complex says it's not nas and I believe them

Go to the Mass Appeal(which Nas now has some type of ownership/partnership deal with) website and type in "Your Old Droog" in the search engine and read what comes up for the "Nutty Bars" track off of the EP.
The description of who Your Old Droog is, reads like a fictional character.

There's no way Nas would allow a dude who bit his entire style to cook on a website belonging to a company he has a stake in.
Regardless, I finally sat down with my headphones and a cigar and gave the EP a spin and even if the "facts" said otherwise, there's no way you could convince me that this isn't Nas. Dope project too.

Especially for an unknown who sound real similar to a legend,
Ali Vegas wept.

I mean Jay Electrolysis is the most successful to date at this
'dope mystery mc movement' but it developed over time
and was carefully orchestrated and even his movement needed
some serious co-signs w/ Just and Erykah.
He didnt just come out w/ applause and a game genie in his hand.

Let say Droog is who he says, I mean, who they say he is. He gotta
be a genius. The waves he making offa this is stadium worthy and doin
it w/ a traditionalist NY sound and god flow he gotta be waitin
on the shores to draw back so he can attempt to flood the streets
w/ a tsunami. Or maybe he on some Ghostface before the face been
revealed. Anyway, I feel like we oughta see dude or hear from dude
soon, the latter is more likely.

Now. What if this IS Nas? Legendary Nas. Mass Appeal label
coming to a theater near you, Nas. What could this do for his
not to distant plans in the game? With the friendship that he and
Jay Elect have developed and the scatter brain intellectual
personality that we know him for I can really see Nas trying to
pull the wool until its time to capitalize. I wouldnt put this too
far from him, taking a page from Jay Elects playbook.
If it is true, this could be the biggest unseen
flying elbow from the top turnbuckle in a min.

The talent and buzz is all there. Honestly, I kinda want it to
be Nas. Id love to see another young dude getting love for
dope music but I dont want to see him become an Action Bronson type
with dope music but lives under the cloud of clonesmanship.

Not based on the quality or any hate towards Nas, because Life is Good was/is phenomenal.

But something like this would be a verrryyy dope marketing scheme for an established artists because its unorthadox.

Like, I really wanted Captain Murphy to NOT be Flylo. When it ended up being him, it was very anticlimatic and most of us never listened again.

But lets say you have been in the game for YEARS and maybe running out of sh!t to say and you have certain expectations attached to your name.

The idea of basically creating a new persona to drop new sh!t...not just a concept album, but an entirely new character basically, would be very dope to me.

And drop it out of the blue on Soundcloud? That sh!t would be brilliant.

Unfortunately its just some kid with nice rhymes, good beats, and a GREAT street team who spread this across all these boards.

I won't lie, a song or two (forget which ones) had me questioning it if it really was him though.
