"Black isn’t just a color. Black isn’t just a race anymore. It’s a feeling and a place from which one feels isolated by the world of the governing elite."
Nah, duke. It's a race, and it happens come with its own special kind of discrimination, but that doesn't make it synonymous with a feeling of isolation. Tired of black people trying to make everyone honorary black because they do something ignorant like smoke weed or because they experience a piece of discrimination. Being black is about way more than that, and it's a huge insult to ALL of our experience to try to reduce it to a feeling of isolation. It's a history, a daily awareness, a fear of the very people who are suppose to protect and serve you, a knowledge people will still view you as less than no matter how hard you work, an experience no media validation, never being judged as an individual... the list goes on. Jump off a cliff talkin' 'bout it's feeling.
Musically, the song is nice, but I can't rock with this "I feel real black right now" bullshit. I don't have the luxury of forgetting that I'm black. Where the fuck is he living that he can?
