First up to bat is DeMiggs, who delivers 50 minutes of dope.

"I know what you're thinking, no TRAP no TWERK?! That music is great for getting the crowds turnt and getting girls to do bad things. This mix represents my life outside of the performance. When I’m at home or driving around, this is the music you’ll hear me bumping. Enjoy!"

"This mix reflects a small portion of what I’m listening to and playing out recently – some hard hitting, others not so much. I like music from many different eras and styles but within this mix you will find some new rap, weird beats, house, and other synthy/subby stuff. I included some great tracks from Canadian friends Pat Lok, Keys N Krates, and Kutcorners. Good for most occasions – load up and dig in!"

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series is a new mix series that highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we’ll bring you a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

The tenth instalment, and year-ending mix, comes courtesy of our brother-in-arms, Pat Drastik, who also happens to be 1/2 of Toronto trap powerhouse THUGLI alongside ITZSOWEEZEE co-founder Tom Wrecks. Pat delivers an insane combination of tracks spanning a whole range of genres, with the intention of killing all competition. Not only has he been destroying venues all over the world with THUGLI, but his accolades also include being a Red Bull Thr3estyle champion, 3-time DMC champ, and all-around turntable wizard. You’d be foolish not to listen to this release.

"This mix is basically comprised of joints I love that I’ve been feeling over the years. Lots of tracks that i wouldn’t normally play in a regular THUGLI set. Anything and everything from old blog house to Baltimore club to future beats, to rap shit to indie rock and back again. It’s definitely reflective of my personal taste and mixed the way I want to hear music mixed. Lots of accapella blends and word play mixes. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it. 3hunna stunna"

The eleventh instalment, and first of 2015, comes courtesy of our good homies and fellow Toronto dwellers ColeCo. The duo bless our ears with an hour-long session of their signature sexy house and R&B sounds, ranging from tropical to deep to nu-disco and much more. If you’ve been feeling bitter over the deep freeze that’s taken hold of the city recently, this is the perfect mix to warm you up and forget all about the winter blues. Pure heat, from beginning to end.

"This mix consists mainly of our favourite tracks from last year, some new ones and an exclusive. Want to shout out everyone from the ITZSOWEEZEE fam and everyone listening to this. Sit back and enjoy the ride."
– ColeCo

The twelfth edition of the series is here, featuring a special guest from Ottawa, our good homie Foster. He continues our tradition of excellence with a high-energy compilation of house, UK Garage, and dance music – starting off with some feel-good vibes before building into a frenzy and diving into the deep end. We guarantee that you’ll be grooving as soon as you press play. Seriously, don’t even bother trying to sit still during this one.

"Decided to step away from the bass heavy side of things and go for some dance party vibes, with some darker/weirder stuff near the end. Big thanks to the ITZSOWEEZEE fam and everyone listening! Stay tuned!"

The thirteenth instalment features a special guest from the UK, who currently resides in our great city of Toronto, Krubera. The man is a stalwart producer in his own right, and he blessed us with a half-hour mix of records that include his own work and a range of other artists that he respects. The sound is a bit heavier than some our previous Spotlight Series mixes, but the vibe is still hella proper.

"These are some of the heavier tunes I like to play, no feels here."

TZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

The past several instalments of the series featured guest appearances by some of our good homies in this here music game. So, for the fifteenth volume, we decided that we’d bring it back in-house and shine the spotlight back on ourselves for a hot minute. Thus, ITZSOWEEZEE co-founder DeMiggs returns with his second contribution to the Spotlight Series, and damn it feels good. The entire mix features a hot selection of FUTURE sounds – future bass, future hiphop, future R&B, future trap and a whole lot more. Basically the bearded bandit is taking us BACK TO THE FUTURE. Press play, step into the Delorean, and be ready to hit warp speed – where we’re going, we don’t need roads.

"This mix is just a bunch of music from the future. Future Bass, Future Trap, Future R&B, Future Jazz, Future Disco, Future Country, etc. I’ve just been enjoying different styles of production from all types of producers. This music doesn’t really have a set genre or it blends a couple of them together. I added a couple of tracks on here from some of my homies Ikaz Boi, Krubera, Vindata, Dave Luxe and everyone better have TEA on their radar – I see big things in her FUTURE! The mix is really great to bump in your car, in your headphones, or in your bed Since it’s all about the future, I dropped some great sound bites through out the mix. Enjoy."

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

One of the things that we love about our role as tastemakers is that we get to connect with so many awesome people from all over the world. The internet has made it possible for our network to extend across North and South America, to Europe, and even all the way to Asia and Australia. Back in the spring we had the opportunity to meet and host French producer Ikaz Boi on his first trip to Toronto. Hailing from Nantes, Ikaz is a well-respected talent who has worked with many European and North American artists, including Vic Mensa, Leather Corduroys, and Myth Syzer on the absolute banger, “HAVE U EVA” (which we featured in May). His remix game is insane as well, with his tracks having garnered hundreds of thousands of plays on his own SoundCloud. As Ikaz’ star continues to rise, we know that he’ll continue to deliver heat and we’re more than happy to present his contribution to our Spotlight Series. For the sixteenth instalment, he gives a 40 minute taste of his signature bass-heavy sound, slowing things down for the first half before turning up the energy in the second. If you’re a lonely girl from Toronto, press play immediately, as that’s exactly what Ikaz intended:

"Mix for the girls from Toronto when they are alone."
– Ikaz Boi

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

As another summer comes to a close, we know that most people are going to be spending as much time as they can on patios, rooftops, and beaches. Especially in Toronto, where the summer seems to fly by each year, it’s important to take advantage of the warm weather while it lasts. For the seventeenth edition of our Spotlight Series, our special guest DJ this month has cooked up the perfect soundtrack to do just that. Hailing from Saskatoon (but now based out of Toronto), Muneshine is an accomplished emcee, producer, and engineer, and has some great accolades to prove it. He’s received FOUR Juno nominations, a SOCAN Echo Songwriting Award, and been long listed for the Polaris Music Prize twice. While traditionally seen as the quintessential “hiphop head”, Muneshine has an appreciation, not to mention skill, for a wide variety of musical genres. Straying away from his hiphop roots, he’s blessed us with an hour-long mix of house and nu-disco vibes that are guaranteed to set the mood for any type of summer fun. Consider this a gift to you as you enjoy the final pool parties, patio/rooftop jams, and cottage/beach trips of the season.

"For the last few months I’ve really been gravitating towards house and the numerous variations of the genre. Coming up as a hiphop DJ/producer I was always a fan of dance music, but rarely had the opportunity to really explore it and/or share it. This collection of songs both makes me happy and feels right for the season. I hope you enjoy the mix!"
– Muneshine

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

The eighteenth edition comes courtesy of Toronto’s own Hudson Alexander. Hudson is a rising producer in the city’s constantly growing music scene and represents the Bedroomer clique. Their team is quickly becoming a stable for extremely talented artists and Hudson is no exception, creating electronic music that is loaded with soul. Earlier this summer, he released his Needs/So Many Things EP, which is required listening for anybody who claims to be a fan of music (so, basically, everybody). As is the case with his Spotlight Series mix, which contains a lush arrangement of uptempo house heaters that serve as a perfect soundtrack to the Fall. But don’t just take our word for it – read what Hudson had to say about his mix below.

"Fall is my favourite season and it’s finally starting to set in, so I thought I’d celebrate with a fall-sounding mix. Pads that sound like wind, blowing dead leaves around at night, and drums that sound like leaves being crunched under your feet. These tracks capture that melancholy feeling of trying to enjoy the last couple months of parties and warmer weather before the winter forces you into social hibernation. I picked tracks from labels like 1080p, Lobster Theremin, and 100% Silk because their tape releases sound really cozy and remind of of big sweaters and toques and all the things that keep you warm as the colder weather sets in."
– Hudson Alexander

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

We are really excited for this nineteeth edition as we have a guest mix from one of our closest and most cherished friends, FeelGoodSmalls. Smalls represents Toronto to the fullest and we’ve watched her steadily progress from a fly living room DJ, with her secret identity as a corporate environmental avenger, to a party rocking phenomenon, blessing stages big and small all over the country and the world. From her humble beginnings in Orangeville, Ontario, she’s become one of the city’s hottest commodities, in-demand everywhere from hipster bars to VIP nightclubs. Most recently, Smalls was crowned the Canadian champion at the MGD Soundclash, and was flown to Las Vegas to represent Canada in the World Finals. There, she was barely edged out by the competition and earned a very strong second place finish. Add to that her work as one of Nike Women’s official DJs, and you know that she is a force to be reckoned with. As her star continues to rise, we know that she’ll keep making the city proud. When we invited her to join the Spotlight Series ranks, she was more than enthused since she is one of the lucky few that attended the very first ITZSOWEEZEE party in Toronto (RIP Andy Poolhall). And we are more than happy that she accepted our request. On this mix, she brings an excellent blend of genres, combining the sounds of R&B, reggae, gidi (Nigerian/Naija beats), moombahton, and more into a fun and energetic mix that is perfect for keeping you warm as the nights slowly get colder and colder. Thank you for the good vibrations FeelGoodSmalls (aka Sleepy Cat Mom) – we got you homie!

"Whenever I make a mix I have two goals- to move you and to make you feel good. I always love having the opportunity to make a mix that is all about what I am listening to – this mix is exactly that. Having just been surrounded by DJs from across the world, I have incorporated many different styles of music into this mix and I feel they fit well together. It is a mix of reggae, moombahton, gidi and twerk — so get your dance on and in the words of FeelGoodSmalls: just drop it down low."

For the twentieth edition in the series, we’ve again turned to our friends in the Bedroomer camp and recruited up-and-coming Toronto DJ/producer Internet Daughter for a stellar guest mix. Internet Daughter is redefining what it means to be a female DJ in a male-dominated field, refusing to cater to the usual thirsty fanboys, and shaking up the competition with her own style and flavour. While she’s only been on the “scene” for a short while, she’s already made a name for herself by releasing a number of her own bass-heavy creations on SoundCloud. Most recently, she was featured on THUMP for “Runnin”, her collaboration with fellow Toronto producer Noahplause, which also served as their contribution to the Drake-sampling Bedroomer x Drizzy series. For her Spotlight Series mix, Internet Daughter showcases the tracks that she’s been feeling of late, and provides a taste of her aggressive party-rocking method. This is a 45 minute affair that you don’t want to miss – trust.

"People always ask me “What do you play?”, and it’s kind of hard to describe, so I put this mix together to show what I’ve been fucking with over the past year. My influences are all over the map and I wanted to share a few songs from each to give people an Idea of what they can expect when I DJ and where my own music is coming from."

http://itzsoweezee.com/itzsoweezee-spotlight-series-dom-dias-itz021/

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

The twenty-first installment in the series, and last release of the year, is a nasty high energy mix by rising Toronto producer Dom Dias. Over the past couple of years, Dom has been dropping remix after remix, along with a slew of original bangers, and has garnered the support of some of the biggest names in the electronic music world – including Anna Lunoe, Crookers, Major Lazer, Steve Aoki, Dillon Francis, and more. While his style isn’t the easiest to classify, it’s safe to say that the man knows how to transform a rave into an absolute frenzy of emotions. On his Spotight Series mix, Dom showcases this very ability and blesses us with a thirty-five minute taste of his dance floor-demolishing skills.

"Super stoked to be finishing off the year with a Spotlight Series mix; ITZSOWEEZEE once again broadcasting the sounds from The 6. Honoured to come from a city with so many talented artists that sound so different from each other yet somehow still sound so fitting to The 6. In this mix you’re gonna find a melting pot of riddims and styles influenced by cultures all over the world. I don’t really believe in genres but I do believe in the concept of “feel”. I want you to listen to this mix and either fall in the shower because you were dancing too hard, or take a second to comprehend the mix and ask yourself if this makes sense. Hope you enjoy this mix! And stay tuned for my upcoming releases in 2016!"

For the twenty-second edition of the mix series, and first of 2016, we’ve been blessed by a very special guest: Calgary-to-Toronto transplant, A-Mac. A-Mac is one of the pioneers of tropical bass and moombahton, and has been making waves all over the world for quite some time. He’s been a staple of the international electronic music scene, performing at festivals like SXSW with the the Mad Decent and XLR8R crews. In addition, he’s shared the stage with the likes of Diplo, Craze, Brodinski, and Toddla T, just to name a few. With his foot firmly planted in Calgary, including a coveted residency at HIFI, he has signed with UK-based label, Birth Records, and made the move to Toronto to begin his conquest of the entire world. On his Spotlight Series mix, A-Mac delivers an hour of house and techno, while rounding things off with a solid offering of West Coast funk.

"As a new resident of Toronto from Calgary I wanted to bridge that gap with a little west coast funk and some east coast house / techno. Something to add a little bounce to the ounce in these cold winter months. This mix contains some new jams and some old favourites. I hope you enjoy."

http://itzsoweezee.com/itzsoweezee-spotlight-series-yuknodis-itz023/

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

The twenty-third edition of our Spotlight Series comes from a wonderful Toronto DJ, who also happens to be our good homegirl, going by the name of Yuknodis. Yuknodis spent most of 2015 expanding her reach both within the city and, more recently, across the country. Whether she’s playing private parties for members of the OVO crew, rocking out at some of Toronto’s finest nightclubs, throwing her own parties at The Libertine, or just dropping fire mixes on Soundcloud, she definitely knows how to keep crowds vibing. With a unique style of her own, Yuknodis seamlessly blends R&B, hiphop, house, future bass, drum & bass, reggae and more, like very few others in this city can. All of these qualities are what made us reach out to her to contribute her sounds to our Spotlight Series. And she doesn’t disappoint – providing a forty-five minute mix that more than proves her worth when placed alongside some of the more experienced DJs that have joined our ranks. Thank you for constantly impressing us Yuknodis, and know that we wish you continued success in all of your future musical endeavours.

"This mix was inspired by familiar melodies wrapped in unfamiliar beats. I used the A side / B side concept with Mr. Rogers as an interlude to break it all up. Hope you enjoy!"

http://itzsoweezee.com/itzsoweezee-spotlight-series-lum-itz024/

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

Today, we bring you the twenty-fourth edition of our Spotlight Series mixes. It’s hard to believe that a project we started on a whim two years ago would take on a life of its own, celebrating the musical styling of so many amazing DJs and producers. This month marks the beginning of Spring, so it’s only fitting that we provide a mix from a Torontonian who is known for his warm and eclectic style: Lum. Lum, affectionately dubbed “Lum Daddy” by his Bedroomer compatriots, is one of those people that you are instantly drawn towards. Not only does the man throw some of the best art and music events in the city, he is also one of the nicest guys at said parties. Always welcoming you with a smile, he exudes an energy that is constantly positive, and this also emanates into the music that he makes. His 2015 single “Kissing” (see our previous post), is a prime example, featuring feel-good production that’s brought to life by his own pop vocals. If you’ve ever seen Lum play, you know that he loves to sing freestyle verses live over his mixes, and that’s exactly the type of vibe he’s brought to his Spotlight Series offering. The half-hour mix starts off with some hiphop/R&B/ambient remixes, before diving into a set full of melodic footwork sounds, all topped off with Lum’s own trademark vocal samples. If you needed a mix to set off the pre-game season, this is definitely one to keep in heavy rotation.

"This mix is a journey. Starting with rap, hitting a quick ambient break, and eventually getting to some really melodic and beautiful footwork. Sometimes I grab the mic and will sing a tune during a DJ set lol, so I did some tripped out freestyles on this one using a vocal effect pedal.

Smoke a joint and go for a walk in the new spring air with this one!!! "
– Lum

http://itzsoweezee.com/itzsoweezee-spotlight-series-star-one-itz025/

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

For the twenty-fifth edition in the series, we are extremely blessed to share with you a mix from the mandem across the pond – UK producers, Star.One. Star. One are a sibling duo consisting of Blackz and Phaze, two London artists who have been making a name for themselves with their hard-hitting grime, UKG, jungle, and drum & bass creations. In 2014, they released their Elements mixtape, featuring UK emcees such as D Double E, Creed MC, G Frsh, P Money, and more, garnering the respect of established industry insiders and leading to support from prominent tastemakers through the BBC Music Introducing platform. Already in 2016, Star. One have released a massive remix of Section Boyz’ smash hit, “Lock Arf”, and just last week, we featured their new single, “Original Badman”, in collaboration with Jamaican superstar Agent Sasco (Assassin) and Zimbabwean hit-maker Takura. Now, the brothers use our Spotlight Series as a platform to showcase their ridiculous skills as touring DJs, with a 40-minute mix that is meant to destroy rave sound systems around the world. The energy level on this mix is through the roof, and it deserves to be played at high volume all summer long. We dare you not to get out of your seat from the moment you press play until the moment the mix fades out. Rate this. Trust.

"We were getting ready for a club show over the weekend and recorded this mix as a preparation for the kind of stuff we were going to play that night, so it’s a mix of UKG, Grime, Jungle and Bass."

http://itzsoweezee.com/itzsoweezee-spotlight-series-jayemkayem-itz027/

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

To many audiophiles, one of the greatest feelings in the world is to connect with someone over a shared respect for music and sounds. In fact, many of us in the ITZSO fam first bonded through the love of sounds, sheesha, and video games in 2004, well before the thoughts of ITZSOWEEZEE were even conceived. The key was that we met, experienced music together, and became lifelong friends. In this age of social media, on-demand entertainment, and disposable gratification, it’s become increasingly rare to meet someone and feel that instant spark of acknowledgement and je ne sais quois that leads to stating “yea, you really get this music thing.” Enter Jayemkayem, a Calgary-to-Toronto transplant who has immediately become a staple in our city’s music scene. Always greeting people with a big smile, cracking jokes, and spreading her knowledge of music and culture, Jayemkayem is one of those souls that you have to befriend on sight. Everything about this woman is an embodiment of understanding music, creating good vibes, and leaving a positive aura in any room she plays. It’s an honour to have her bless us with the twenty-seventh edition of our Spotlight Series.

Jayemkayem is an accomplished club DJ, freelance writer (see her work on Hypebeast, Noisey, Thump, and more) and also hosts her own online radio show, Hundreds&Thousands. She plays some of the hottest venues in the city on the regular, steadily adding to her growing fan base. When she’s not working on her own music, you can catch her at almost any event where DJs coalesce, soaking up the experiences that other like-minded people have to offer. To sum her up in one sentence is difficult, but we’ll attempt to do so: Jayemkayem is a walking encyclopedia of sound. The results of all of her dedication to the craft are on full display in her Spotlight Series mix. Throughout the hour-long mix, she modernizes the “wall-of-sound” concept, championed by Phil Spector, Brian Wilson, and many other ’60s-era legends, by applying it to considerably younger genres like grime, future bass, and UK garage. Similar to how Spector and Wilson would layer multiple arrangements of instruments over one another, Jayemkayem layers songs on top of songs to create a lush and energetic blend of acoustics that is something altogether new and refreshing. It really deserves multiple listens to understand and appreciate, but this may be one of the greatest contributions to the series thus far. Thank you Jo, for real.

"A DJ I always looked up to for their mixtapes is Neil Armstrong. His mixes were always fresh – usually a dope theme or concept and heavy on blends and extended mixes. This mix is a bunch of music I’ve been feeling lately. I hope that people will hear some different sounds, as well as not quite know whether they are hearing 1, 2 or 3 songs at some points.

Thanks for the opportunity to do this. I had a lot of fun making this "

(actually the 26th release, I messed up the order because I forgot to post this one when it was released 2 months ago)

http://itzsoweezee.com/itzsoweezee-spotlight-series-triv-itz026/

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

Here at ITZSOWEEZEE, we pride ourselves in our ability to find hidden talent. Whether we’re discovering new sounds through our own digging, music submissions, word-of-mouth, or meeting artists in person – we believe our tastemakers have some of the sharpest ears in the game. And, if you’re a fan of the crew and this website, you most likely agree. It’s with that sense of pride that we present the twenty-sixth edition of our Spotlight Series, brought to you by up-and-coming Milwaukee producer, Triv.

Triv, a self-proclaimed beat cooker, has been cheffing and serving up tracks via SoundCloud for just over twelve months. His music came to the attention of ITZSOWEEZEE co-founder DeMiggs earlier this year, and we were all instantly hooked on his lush and soulful future bass creations. Inspired by Soulection O.G.s like Sango, Dpat, and Atu, Triv released his If Only EP in the Spring, and has followed that project up with some beautifully produced originals (see “What About Us”) and remixes (see “Trust Me”). DeMiggs reached out to Triv almost immediately to lock him in for a Spotlight Series mix, and the result is nothing short of phenomenal. The song selection alone will make you want to keep this mix in heavy rotation, if not on permanent repeat. The release was slightly delayed, due to Triv having to address some personal matters – but we’re happy that he’s coping well, and are stoked that he was able to channel his negative energy into a creation that’s so positive. This mix lends credence to the belief that human beings often produce some of their best work while facing adversity.

"I made this mix two days after a really tough breakup. It represents the roller-coaster of emotions I’ve experienced recently. Anxiety, depression, and heartbreak have been kicking my ass lately, and the music in this collection communicates these feelings better than I ever could with words. The assembly of this mix was extremely therapeutic for me and I hope it helps someone else who is also going through some tough times. No matter what happens in my life, music will always be there to make me feel better. Thank you for listening."
– Triv

http://itzsoweezee.com/itzsoweezee-spotlight-series-beat-sampras-itz028/

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

For the past several months, we’ve been outsourcing the Spotlight Series duties to some of our talented friends from across Canada, down south in the U.S., and across the pond in Europe. This month, for the twenty-eighth installment in the series, we turn the spotlight back inwards to showcase one of our very own ITZSOWEEZEE family members – rising Toronto producer beat sampras. We’ve had the honour of knowing sampras for over a decade, and have witnessed the man transition from a simple loop-chopping beatmaker into one hell of a dope producer – one who is quickly becoming one of Toronto’s greatest hidden gems. Last Fall, he dropped remix after remix, culminating in the release of his first official mixtape, appropriately titled The Remixes. Since then, he’s built strong relationships and worked with international talent like Ikaz Boi and Atari Jones, to local artists including Michael Imperial, R&B/pop vocalist TEA, his Bedroomer fam Eytan Tobin and Lum, as well as many others who shall remain a secret (for now).

All of sampras’ hard work has lead him to his first MuchFACT video grant, and he’s been busy creating a series of visuals set to drop soon. On top of that, he’s been in the studio non-stop, putting in work on his official debut EP, which is going to be a serious problem. He’s sprinkled in some exclusives for your ears throughout his hour-long Spotlight Series mix. Full of genre-bending styles, the mix displays why sampras has been steadily accumulating gigs at some of the hottest parties in the city, including his monthly residency, Coast, at The Libertine with ITZSOWEEZEE co-founder DeMiggs. Once only a behind-the-scenes character in Toronto’s music scene, sampras is has grown into one of the most valuable players in the league. To understand why, press play and let beat sampras take you on a smooth-as-silk musical journey – you won’t be disappointed.

"My thoughts are:
I don’t know what to say lol

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

As the ITZSOWEEZEE network continues to expand, so does our reach. Over the past couple of years, we’ve built strong connections across the Atlantic with all types of artists and labels. One such label is the Frankfurt-based Nu Disco Your Disco (NDYD) Records, who have been supplying us with releases from their talented roster for several months now. Previous features have included tracks from the likes of Italian producer BVRGER and Berlin representative Mogul. Two weeks ago, NDYD also gave us the privilege of premiering the latest record by one of Italy’s best-kept-secrets, MADD3E. And now, we have the pleasure of presenting MADD3E’s contribution to our monthly Spotlight Series. This twenty-ninth edition is special, as it serves as the first of back-to-back Spotlight Series releases from NDYD Records!

MADD3E, hailing from Rome, is a producer who is steadily rising in the global ranks for the past year. He has been steadily dropping funky future bass creations with a finesse that is unmatched. His sound has a polish that is lacking from many of his production contemporaries, and this is definitely reflected in his Spotlight Series mix. Throughout the 45-minute affair, MADD3E changes the pace from many of our previous releases, and crafts a soulful blend of music ranging from chill instrumentals to hiphop and R&B, all while maintaining a vibe that is smooth as silk. As the seasons transition from summer to autumn, this is a mix that should most definitely stay in heavy rotation for those of you who simply love to groove.

"My name is MADD3E, I regularly get high off music instead of drugs. In my mind this mix could also be run as “ITZSOWEED” for it is very relaxing and gets you high too."
– MADD3E

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

This month, we are blessed to have a true Toronto journeyman grabbing the coveted Spotlight Series spot, and he obviously delivers the heat throughout his 45-minute mix. James Redi is a DJ that needs no introduction in our city, but we’ll try to do justice to his name regardless. No stranger to Toronto’s burgeoning DJ scene, Redi has been honing his craft for years, and has arguably the most positive demeanour in the game. Whether he’s holding it down at one of his many residencies (SOHO House, Escobar, Sneaky Dees, Underground Garage, Peacock, and Bar Fancy, to name a few), hosting his own parties, or headlining at the infamous Dudebox jams, the man does it all with a huge smile on his face. Running into Redi on the street is always a pleasure, because when you see that bearded grin, you know your day is about to become just a little bit brighter.

Redi also has a fair share of accomplishments under his belt: two Stylus Awards nominations, a second place finish at Red Bull Thre3Style Toronto, and the 2015 NOW Readers Choice “BEST TORONTO DJ” Award. He’s had the honour of playing alongside Action Bronson, Roy Woods, Skratch Bastid, Grandtheft, THUGLI, Fat Man Scoop, Mac Miller, Phonte, Starting From Scratch, Win Butler of Arcade Fire, Keith Ape, Statik Selektah, Adam Sandler, Kardinal Offishall and a lot more. The man has even earned himself well-respected contracts with TIFF, McDonalds, and Roots Canada. Time and time again, Redi has proven himself to be a pure gladiator in the Toronto DJ arena. On his contribution to the Spotlight Series, Redi goes in with an effortlessly-mixed collection of new hip-hop bangers, demonstrating why the city holds his name in such high esteem. Thank you homie – we really appreciate all that you do. Congratulations to you and Kate on the engagement – stay blessed up fam.

"This mix is a blend of songs that I’m really feeling right now. Some are new, some old but collectively, it’s a pretty chill mix with good vibes and some bangers. And that new De La is fire."
– James Redi

http://itzsoweezee.com/itzsoweezee-spotlight-series-freeza-chin-itz031/

ITZSOWEEZEE Spotlight Series highlights the incredibly talented DJs and producers that make up the ITZSOWEEZEE ranks, as well as our extended music family. Each month, we deliver a fresh mix that reflects the diverse style and flavour of our crew. This is an opportunity to “meet” our selectors, enjoy some amazing free music, and understand why we command the respect that we do.

For the thirty-first edition of our Spotlight Series, we are stoked to present a guest mix by a man that could easily be crowned the grime king of Toronto: Freeza Chin. While we’ve been aware of Freeza’s presence in the city’s music scene for quite a while, it wasn’t until earlier this year that we really came to truly connect and become fam. It’s difficult to even begin writing a summary of Freeza’s DJ exploits, because man has been low-key killing it in every music-related field imaginable. By trade, Freeza’s a professional engineer with six years of experience, and has contributed his services to the likes of The Weeknd, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Wiley, Rich Homie Quan, Boi-1da, Da-P, Tinashe, and many more. His past mixing grounds include Phase One Studios, which is one of the most legendary studios in Canada. Add to that his 15-year long DJ career, co-founding the successful BUMP parties, and providing support to the likes of Skepta, Stormzy, Kendrick Lamar, Kaytranada, The Roots, J. Cole, Novelist, and Hudson Mohawke just to name a few. Then, sprinkle in the fact that he is also the official DJ and engineer for Toronto’s most well-known grime emcee, Tre Mission, and you only scratch the surface of Freeza’s accomplishments. Most recently, Freeza travelled with his Last Planet family to Croatia to perform at the Outlook Festival, and that followed his summer trip to the Mecca of grime: London. There, he dropped some fiery sets for BBC Radio 1Xtra, Reprezent Radio, Rinse FM, Radar Radio, and was the only non-UK DJ featured live on Boiler Room for Flowdan’s Disaster Piece album release party. Do I honestly need to continue?

On his Spotlight Series mix, Freeza turns the energy all the way up with a 40-minutes of straight heat. The mix contains a healthy dose of grime, dancehall, dub, and all around trunk-rattling thumpers. Play this at high volume only – tell your neighbours to fuck off if they complain – and don’t blame us when the cops show up at your door. Blame Freeza. His power level is wayyy over 9000 and he did this to you.

"So this mix is a lot of Grime and 140 bpm stuff that I have been fucking with and working on as of late (either with production or engineering). Anyone who is familiar with how I DJ will recognize my style of double-dropping and blending songs together as I’ve always looked up to and been influenced by DJ’s such as EZ, Spyro, Mak10 and Andy C. A lot of people mainly know me for this style of music but the truth is I fuck with A LOT of different stuff and pride myself on being quite versatile. I originally wanted to include a bunch of other styles on this mix, but there is so much amazing Grime and 140 bpm kind of stuff coming out right now that I decided to just focus on that. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it!"
