I remember when Dynasty came out and he said it was his best album. Actually he's done that a few times...the fact that he ranked MCHG as low as he did with it being his current album pretty much shows how wack it is...

>1. Reasonable Doubt (Classic)
I'll give it a 4.5 but it is a classic.

>2. The Blueprint (Classic)
See above

>3. The Black Album (Classic)
No way in hell this is a classic or his 3rd best.

>4. Vol. 2 (Classic)
Always thought from day one that this album absolutely sucked. It was a change in hip-hop...but not a good change.

>5. American Gangster (4 1/2, cohesive)
I give this a 4 and would place it as his 4th best.

>6. Magna Carta (Fuckwit, Tom Ford, Oceans, Beach, On the Run,
>Grail)
Honestly, haven't heard it in full and have no ambition to.

>7. Vol. 1 (Sunshine kills this album…fuck… Streets, Where I’m
>from, You Must Love Me…)
His third best album. Not sure why he or anyone else thinks Sunshine bring the album this far down. The video is worse than the actually song and I Know What Girls Like is far worse. He also had bullshit on all of his albums so I'm confused as to why Sunshine is the one that drops an album with some of his best work down so far. Only thing I can think of is the camel shot from the video and he simply can't separate this album from that disaster lol

>8. BP3 (Sorry critics, it’s good. Empire (Gave Frank a run for
>his money))

Sorry Jay, it's not. And no you didn't give Frank a run.

>9. Dynasty (Intro alone…)

Album is terrible. Intro is dope but the fact people hang on it as if it's an all-time great verse is evident that Jay doesn't have all-time great verses. I love how people act as if this was the first time an internal rhyme scheme was used before.

>10. Vol. 3 (Pimp C verse alone… oh, So Ghetto)

Album is terrible. So Ghetto is his worst collabo with Primo.

>11. BP2 (Too many songs. Fucking Guru and Hip Hop, ha)

Yea...too many and the majority suck.

>12. Kingdom Come (First game back, don’t shoot me)

Ok.

4 hot albums in 24 years...I can divide

>3. The Black Album (Classic) Number 4 IMO behind AG
>4. Vol. 2 (Classic) No. As much as I love this album, it's number 5. This shit is hella dated too.
>5. American Gangster (4 1/2, cohesive) No. This is his 3rd best.
>6. Magna Carta (Fuckwit, Tom Ford, Oceans, Beach, On the Run,
>Grail) Fuck no. How is this shit ahead of Vol. 1 and yes BP2? Only song on here that play at ignorant levels is Fuckwitme
>7. Vol. 1 (Sunshine kills this album…fuck Streets, Where I’m
>from, You Must Love Me…)Should be number 6 IMO.
>8. BP3 (Sorry critics, it’s good. Empire (Gave Frank a run for
>his money)) No. This shit should be number 11, behind MCHG. Maybe even number 12.
>9. Dynasty (Intro alone…) On second thought there wasn't much on here I revisit often
>10. Vol. 3 (Pimp C verse alone… oh, So Ghetto) The intro, interlude, and outro makes this. Had he kept the original tracklisting, this would've been better. As it stands, there's only 4 or 5 tracks I can fuck with. NYMP is fucking ill though.
>11. BP2 (Too many songs. Fucking Guru and Hip Hop, ha) Should be higher
>12. Kingdom Come (First game back, don’t shoot me)

I've been saying this for years here. Don't know why even Jay denies the greatness of Vol. 1. Two songs and a video gave it its bad perception. Some of his greatest material is on that album. LOL at him calling Vol. 2 classic.

2 of the 16 songs on there aren't even Jay's.

So we're talking 11 good songs out of 14 songs on there.

Plus it's Just Blaze's coming out party.

It gets shitted on for no reason.

The album doesn't start until "Roc Boys" for me though.

I feel like people hated Kingdom Come so much that they overrated American Gangster.

Vol. 3, BP3, American Gangster, Vol. 2, The Dynasty, BP2 and Kingdom Come?

I might give you Kingdom Come but that's about it.

lol yes. Kingdon Come is weak as fuck. Even though he was flowin on BP2 that shit is too long and many beats are trash. The Dynasty is borderline turrbl. Vol. 2 and 3 are good albums that are also stuck in there time. American Gangster is better, BP3 is equal

best one out of the 4 volumes...

i put Blueprint above Reasonable Doubt but its REALLY close...i mean REALLY close...

then Black Album, American Gangster, Vol. 3...

We all can agree on the bottom two...BP2 had too many songs...and Kingdom Come was really bad...

and it should be #1.
There were so many albums like Reasonable Doubt in that era.
AZ Do or Die
Nas It was Written
Fat Joe Jealous One's Envy

It just blended in with the other albums to me.

Jay was the first guy of his kind of give the 'why' along with the 'what'
also the atmosphere of that album perfectly fits the content and presentation, being able to go from Ski's melodic stuff into Primo's thunderous epic productions isn't easy to pull off without being jarring

I wonder what a poll would show if we asked for Jay's 5th best album.

Me personally, I would say The Dyansty, but I think I'd be the sole vote for that album. I very much enjoy it. Can't go wrong with all the Just Blaze and Bink beats, and "I Just Wanna Love U" may be my favorite Jay single period, and undoubtedly the best collab with the Neptunes/Pharrel. Just delete the Memphis Bleek solo and enjoy.

Does anyone remember him calling The Black Album his ninth album and Kingdom Come his tenth?

I always assumed he was counting Streets Is Watching as his other but it isn't on this list. That's understandable because most don't consider that in a Jay album list but it is interesting to consider when looking at this list.

In response to Reply # 0

...i was listening to BP the other day and it has a few skippable tracks, but people were so happy to see THIS Hov that it gets called a classic....

Vol 1...is a great album

Vol 2...is a pretty damn good album, with classic tracks

Vol 3 ...has some great tracks

Roc la Familia is about the same as Vol 3 but without the Primo....and more posse cuts

BP2 is garbage for the most part

BP3 has a few good tracks mixed with some pretty bad music ...

Kingdon Come....i liked 3 tracks...the rest was just filler...

AG is about as near a classic as he's gotten since BP, which again is't a classic but close...i liked AG, but it's got more than a few skippable tracks too

TBA.....LOL..overrated....it's a decent album, but nothing to lose your mind over....i liked it, but the overkill is a trip

MCHG....it's easily his worst since BP2...it's only better than BP2 cause there's like 3 dope songs in there....

"yes, sometimes my rhymes are sexist, but you lovely bitches and hos should know i'm tryin to correct it"- hiphopopotamus

ill rank American Gangster ahead of Vol 2, that album was big for jays career especially coming after Kingdom Come, American Gangster got jay back on track can make a case for it being top 3. And MCHG needs to drop a couple spots but i get why he ranked it so high still promoting
