"is "missing you" the best rock and roll heaven song ever?" Sun Nov-24-13 10:23 PM by Joe Corn Mo
this tune is lionel richie's crowning achievement and my go to tune whenever ppl try to say diana ross is never sincere.
if i were to die young, i would hope that i lived my life in such a way that "missing you" would be a song that would make ppl think of me.
seriously... that bridge has brought tears to my eyes before.
the lead up to the bridge shows what you can do with a rhyme.. the way lionel rhymes
broken hearted/ day we started
and
WE were meant to BE if only you would let ME.
and the way the background singers come in with the understated harmonies after Diana's monologue.
the only other tune that could maybe be on this level is "nightshift." with the african drums and the honest and sincere belief that the artists that died too soon are on the other side, still doing what they were meant to do... surrounded by the other greats that were too good for this world.
but I'd like to hear other contenders. what's the best rock and roll heaven song?
