keep writing more good songs-even after the follow-up CD flopped?

or.....

The record company should have given Tony more chances after the follow-up CD didn't have any hits?

he made a fair share of money off the covers of his biggest hit so he's not in the bread line by any means
also I'm against the idea that hits equal artistry, and we really should stop that shit around here
hits are great, but they're not defining in regards to an artist's worth

and Rich was on a Boyz 11Men Album there second album as a matter of fact.

nobody knows was a huge hit and it crossed over.

he had a commerical sound kinda hard for him not be not going commerical and I had a homie who was a big fan of dude and he said that dude said something along the lines that his success was sabtoged..

look if you ain't trying to make a name and brand for yourself then don't enter the music business, get into the catering business. tired of cats talking this talk like when cats sign on the dotted line and get said line of credit and or upfront bonus and not expecting hits and success.

not many cats go to NY or LA just for sight seeing.

it is a Business period.

the second Boyz II Men album is the most neatly packaged 1990's take on OJ/Nicole type music ever. If I had a nickel for everytime i saw a corny brother with athletic ability making a mixtape for his gray girl containing songs off this record i'd have around 50 cents.

please don't go away from me > any weak joint off II

the latter I certainly believe, he had the goods as a songwriter there isn't a doubt about that
for the former, there's a big difference between going commercial and having a hit

I have no clue what you just said, but it seems like you said that you should expect to shoot for some sort of success
if I'm right about that I'd say you should shoot for success no matter what you're doing, no matter what level you do it on
but that's not the same as trying to be a megastar, plenty of people have been successful without all of that and it's exactly where they want to be both artistically and industrially

>not many cats go to NY or LA just for sight seeing.

actually plenty of people go to those places to sightsee

>it is a Business period.

it's also a method of getting your music heard by more people than you would normally, and your worth as an artist isn't determined by how many hits you have
Drake has more #1 hits than Marvin Gaye, by your logic he's the better artist because he has more "money tracks" per Billboard

Tony Rich was working with LA Reid directly back then and La Reid makes it a point of saying he is about them hits.

also 20 years back when they started working together LA Reid was one part of the hottest Songwriting and Production team in the business so it ain't like TOny RIch didn't know what he was getting into.

Tony Rich wrote and Produced a track for Boyz 11 Men in there Prime. this ain't like TOny Rich worked with Dakota Moon or Soul For Real post "Candy Rain" era.

FYI Marvin Gaye was about them hits. had he had it his way he would have done a Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Perry Como, Johnny Mathis thing on the real.

i don't even dig Drake too tough, however he is handling his business for his time and his fans love him more than they do Marvin Gaye. to most Drake Fans Marvin Gaye may as well be Marvin Sease they don't care.

La Reid back in the day wasn't signing tax write off acts FYI, they was about hitting and all them acts hit on Laface including the tony rich project.

this isn't about what LA Reid is about, this is about Tony Rich and how good an artist he was
plenty of wack groups and solo acts have hits, that isn't the be all end all

i was a huge fan and follower of the Laface records era and i know that RIch had placement and was pushed into place as a babyface clone. he even got to work with Eric Clapton and Clapton had an attitude about working with certain folks etc..

if you bothered to listen i mentioned that a homeboy of mine who was cool with Tony RIch eluded to the fact that Arista stopped putting that budget on his later projects and they let him eventually go wood.

Tony Rich had a little run period. it ain't a Van Hunt, Cody Chestnut, Eric Gale band,

you trying to act like cats get into the business and are not trying to be successful??

its a business man. KRS ONE said it best 24 years back its 95% busines and 5% music.

don't believe me goggle what KRS ONE said. nuff said
