SH killed it cause that's what they do... liked Ortiz the best

TDE was dope... Kendrick was Super Kendrick... the new dude was wack... after Kendrick to me it was Rock, Soul, then Q... Was real impressed with Rock and Soul had some real ill lines

out of the rest, ASAP Rocky was a pleasant surprises, dope verse

Also thought Rittz killed it, Bronsolino always comes correct, random dude from ATL, Starlight something was kinda dope

disappointed in Jon Conner, I'm a fan, didnt do anything for me...

can't remember anyone else standing out to me in any positive way

Also, he forgot his lyrics at one point.

Come to grips with the fact that most OKP's are of the Nut Hugger lineage, so, if you' re not part of the little cliques that exist 'round here, your posts will probably tank like Souljaboy's album sales.

Rock had PRESENCE, but, if he had just stepped the lyrics up just a bit, we'd be mentioning his name in the pool of emcees that were possibly the best last night.

Ab Soul started off MAD weak but was killing it with that CL Smooth metaphor he did at the end. Wish he'd have done more of that.

Honestly, I couldn't really understand anything the Tennessee cat was saying and Q underimpressed like a mug.

does that type of thing?

In highschool there were some legit crews of guys that played ball together and rhymed together. Occasionally during random hallway cyphers some of them would kick a verse off the top then go into a chant/chorus they all knew and the next member would kick a verse.. Dominated the cypher that way and showed off in a fun way.

That's what I felt during the ASAP cypher, just a crew having fun with it. They came to show off, look cool, have fun. not eat everyone's food like Kendrick lol

But, you still have to kill it on your individual verses and that method is normally just employed so the next emcee in the crew has time to get ready.

Nothing wrong with having fun with it, but, most cyphers are about lyrical murder, which Kendrick, Joell, Crooked, Royce, Joey, and Rock seem to understand.

cyphers as a crew, so they could've been better (especially Ferg, I expected more from him)

Maybe they just got lazy writing their verses lol

excites y'all, the state of hip hop is in trouble bro

half them muhfuckas were rapping like they just got off work. I don't
know if they were trying to be extra cool--> like, it's just another
verse umma spit, or they just didn't take it seriously. The only cat
who seemed like he made an effort was Kendrick.

I'll say this, not ONE act made me think: yeah, umma buy their shit
when it drops... Royce and nem were definitely disappointing to me,
considering they were the vets

Overall I felt Slaughterhouse had the best cypher, followed by TDE. After that it's a toss up. If someone had the Real Husbands at the third spot I wouldn't be at all mad lol.

40. "First off, A$AP MOB are trash..."
In response to Reply # 0

Rocky did a decent job, but, it wasn't good enough to save those other clowns. HOW THE HELL did A$AP Ferg win best new artist?! The game is all messed up. I don't know WHO THE HELL wrote the review on the front page of OKP, but, the MOB DID NOT do their thing AT ALL. It was laughable.

In the cypher with the new cats, I don't know WHAT the author of the front page review was thinking either by saying Jon Connor was underwhelming but at the same time praising Rapsody. Was he/she watching the same show as us? Rapsody was OK, but she barely did any lines and was not very discernible vocally. Connor had presence, delivery, clarity and punchlines. I guess someone must have wrote some checks and other folks didn't.

Wax was good for an underground emcee and Rittz was passable. Contrary to what others may say, I thought the Italian cat was pretty nice. His flow was good and the rhyme schemes were on point. Italian, as a language, seems to fit rapping better than Spanish, French, Japanese and the others I've heard.

Now, the REAL killer is how the reviewer went on to praise Tiffany Foxx. She said like maybe 6 lines. What am I supposed to REALLY get from that? Action was also underwhelming, but, I'm not surprised because his style is not befitting of a cypher, IMHO. Still love his work, though.

Now, on to the heavyweights. Slaughtahouse killed it. Period. Joell did a nice setup for Crooked, Royce once again showed off his lyrical dexterity (although the punchlines weren't that strong) and Joey did Joey, whom I was most unimpressed by. I mean, he was cool, but, I've heard him do so much better in the past, he should have really put in work on this one.

With TDE, after relistening, Q was saying some pretty nice lines, but, that whole too cool for school flow just isn't befitting of a cipher. Same with Ab. Rock did his thing and was the second best of the crew. The new cat has flows but needs content. And, as for Kendrick, as we all know, he killed it, coming with a vehemence usually reserved for diss records. I wish he would have finished his verse off stronger, but, that's a minor quibble.

Come to grips with the fact that most OKP's are of the Nut Hugger lineage, so, if you' re not part of the little cliques that exist 'round here, your posts will probably tank like Souljaboy's album sales.

You are supposed to pull out your best verse for this. I was watching this shit like, "What is wrong with these cats?". They know Kendrick is in it. They know Slaughterhouse is in it. They know what beat they are gonna rock over. Why these dudes rappin' like that. I mean, when I'm more entertained by a cypher of non-rappers (real husbands) than I am by a cypher with cats with record deals, that's a big problem.

How the fuck the most accomplished rapper participating this year (Kendrick) also took it the most serious? Granted he had a few axes to grind and used this as the platform..

But still, just like stated before..this is the only time most of these artist is going to get a platform where people actually give a damn and listen..this is the time tip the fuckin cup over and go full tilt..

When you're in that zone you take any and every opportunity to lay your claim as the best very seriously. To me that's what some really talented MC's never quite understand.
