**General Statement

I only ask because for whatever reason, a debate on twitter between me and Saigon hot heated. Well, it got heated on his end. I'm grown so it was funny/sad. I only said that I felt it was ironic that his 2nd albums was called Bread & Circuses and now he is on a VH1 show. At the same time I said I know you have to eat & its a check as well. You can't talk Political all day & diss mainstream Hip Hop then defend why you on Love & Hip Hop. Of course the whole "my fanbase will grow & my message can get out" was said but I just thought it was interesting.

At any rate, Love & Hip thoughts?

LOL. it's mindless entertainment. a distraction. it has almost nothing to do w/actual Hip-Hop. i watch b/c the shit is a freak show or a circus. it could be 'Love & Rugby' for all i care. i don't watch the show b/c i know the rappers or b/c i care about the rappers as rappers.

Anyone who portrays themselves as a thinker and a "conscious" rapper probably doesn't belong on a show that's really all about drama and creating the biggest spectacle possible. It's hard to hear Saigon be critical of the lyrics and imagery of Rick Ross, Trinidad James and other artists that he's spoke about recently and then justify him going on an incredibly exploitative show like Love & Hip Hop. For T.I. it's different because the show isn't really about drama or acting a damn fool.

I think it depends on where you career is and what kind of help you want. It's a check and it makes people aware of you that probably don't know who you are. It's extending the 5 minutes of fame for people like Jim Jones, Lil Scrappy and Consequence so I guess it's worked for them.
