"your take on Tower of Power"

on one hand they were a bad band which had Rick Stevens and then Lenny Williams and they made some Great albums and quite a few memorable songs. also a strong live act.

then there is there is there Horn Section which is truly an act two all unto itself and there horn section it can be argued can hang with anybody else's horn section because they were/are in that kind of demand.

so where do you come down on them and there place in terms of Bands from back in the day and also there music?

I have to listen to the three albums they did for Columbia, but I was raised on the third album (the one with "So Very Hard To Go"), BUMP CITY, and BACK TO OAKLAND. I remember the third album the most because it was part of my auntie's record collection, and was the one with the biggest mold spot on the cover. Plus, "You're Still A Young Man"? Oh yeah. The tracks they did for the LIGHTS OUT: SAN FRANCISCO comp on Blue Thumb are great too:

those albums you mentioned to me from 72-75 that was there prime and best. for me after Lenny Williams left the vocals were never the same. Rick Stevens still got it vocally.

oh man what a memory you got you still remember that mold on your anty's album? WOW!

i guess that record got much play? so very hard to go hits so hard. love there arrangements.

cool stuff Book. Peace
