"Wire's last two albums: Both better than 154 (IMO)"
For the record, I don't put 154 on nearly the same level as Pink Flag and Chairs Missing. 154 has classic Wire songs, but some of it just seems a little too pretentious--especially when the lyrics are spoken.
But my real point is Red Barked Tree and Change Becomes Us are really good. They should get more credit for a band that has aged really well.
They have the quality that I had hoped the last two Eno albums on Warp would have. There is more polish, less dissonance, but the songs are strong (Change Becomes Us are song ideas from the 70s, so that helps.)
So yeah. Wire fans: their last two albums are worth paying attention to. (Object 47 isn't bad either, but a notch below IMO)
---- I check for: Serengeti, Zeroh, Open Mike Eagle, Jeremiah Jae, Moka Only.
