Firstly, props on the article.

I don't think there's anything necessarily invalid about the point you're making in this article. However, I think, unfortunately, like everything else in our media today, it is a conversation between the loud, crazy, ignorant portion of our society. I acknowledge that misogyny still exists loudly, and is embedded deeply and insidiously in our societies dna, however, I don't think it is the sole reason for the antagonistic response towards Beyonce's new song.

Some view the song as divisive, morally reprehensible, undeservingly egotistic. I personally don't like it because I think the song is terrible.

I don't think this issue can simply be id'd as another case heteronormative patriarchy.

Sort of a Socratic method in play there & despite how long that thread got nobody ever really did.

I don't recall saying Lupe shouldn't use the term 'bitch'.

It's actually fitting one might co-sign the murky moralizing in 'Bitch Bad''s message & then turn around to say that Beyonce shouldn't use the term because she's a mother, because both those attitudes are paternalist and/or misguidingly misogynistic in nature.

"bow down bitches"

if bey had made 'bitch bad' would you still have taken issue? i wouldn't have.

and cherry picking them as phrases, hooks, choruses is important when talking about children as that is what they arrive at first. they don't get the detailed messages adult minds put in it. they don't always understand the hooks. but if they catch they will repeat them and the repeating them is exactly where the effect of them as phrases comes in.

this was the message of Lupe's song as well. that parents should be careful about how these phrases wind up in their children's vocabulary. beyonce is a pernt now and i hope she becomes aware of this.

without listening again, i'm pretty sure the target was not any patriarchy but rather bitches. and sure the patriarch may be some bitches too. but that's not what she's talking about. she's talking to gossipy bitches that make her feel threatened.

as far as addressing patriarchy was the fact that there is such a big backlash at her lyrics in the song and context of the song shows it... it says that here:

"What kind of world do we live in where a rock star using 'bitch' in her song lyrics elicits immediate outrage and scorn by men and women alike? Oh I know. We reside in a patriarchal, plantational world."

I didnt read in the article that it says that when beyonce says bow down bitches that she is talking to the grand patriarchal system

If Rihanna (a woman) had made the same song nobody would have blinked because she has consistently presented herself to us as BadgalRiri... We expect that from her, or at least, we are prepared to receive such messages from her. And perhaps more importantly, Rihanna IS genuinely a "rock star" in a way that Bey is not.

Bey has not given us much of a precedent for "Bow down, bitches"... Hell, did you see how Twitter blew up when Beyonce uttered the word "shit" on her (wack) documentary.

>There are literally headlines everyday pointing out her

Those headlines aren't there because people don't "accept" her behavior... They're there because people LOVE it. They can't get enough of it. It sells papers and generates pageclicks. Folks love to gasp and pretend they're shocked when Riri posts a pic of herself with no pants on, but they all retweet the shit. Everybody goes on about how terrible it is that she's back with Breezy and how she's dead to them, but they still have to report on every move the couple makes because they're sexy and dangerous and they don't want to miss it in case he kills her this time.

That's a completely different animal from the kind of attention Beyonce is getting. Like I said, Rihanna is a *rock star* in a way that Beyonce is not, and the public actively enjoys watching rock stars indulge in bad behavior.

There's TONS of criticism. Half the articles about her weed smoking, relationship w/ Chris etc. are about it needed to stop and how she needs intervention. Remember when she smoked w/ Snoop backstage at Coachella? All the articles following that were about how she needs to be stopped. People love it yes, but they still don't accept it.

nobody cares about the word 'bitch' it's 'bitch bow down' that's the problem.

all the 'oh the man is trying to keep a good woman from her right to say bitch' is completely at the expense of the bottom of the female pyramid (phalus) Bey has erected with herself at the top, from which she shouts down to the little girls looking up to her, "BOW DOWN BITCHES!!"

Now that's how you stand up to the man. But I digress. Hopefully Michelle Obama will go to press with a little blurb about how when Malia is getting out of control she reminds her of her place by yelling "Bow Down Bitch" like her favorite singer Beyonce, which of course would make it alright. Ooops I digressed already.

Its saying that a big part of people being mad at the song is because their patriarchal narrow vision of beyonce is ruined by it. Thats what I got out of it

Sure you do.

The whole point of the song, which references the fact that she is idolized by little girls is to tell those little girls if they grow up to be something reminiscent of a threat to her, they best to bow down. That's the message of the song period.

This isn't about Bey's ability to use the word bitch, it's about her creating the same type of hierarchical structure which Fire says she's trying to tear down.

>Thats what the song says, yes.

Hey I have no stake at all in the Beyonce race. I don't listen to her music. I am in fact impressed upon by her public image. One which, unless Fire's talking about her dad, isn't being pressed upon me without her consent by the illumnatied phallus. I know that her last big single was about how girls rule the world, i know that single ladies was supposed to be an anthem about the strength of woman to make powerful mate choices, i know she just had a daughter less than a year ago, I know that the first lady of the country has cited her as a model for young black women coming up, and i know that with this one song she said fuck all that because she felt threatened by the bitches out there.

hahahahahaha you are stretch armstrong... So when Ali said he was the greatest, he was telling little boys if they grew up to be boxers he'd kick their asses?

She is clearly obvious speaking to a specific group of people...other current female r&b singers..Rihanna, keri hilson, keyshia cole and them...clearly.

>This isn't about Bey's ability to use the word bitch, it's

Right, because her field is not competitive at all.

^^^^This is what Fire was talking about in the article... she ruined her whole image by telling her r&b counterparts the she the queen of the shit? Because she used the work bitch in doing so? Thats so fucking ridiculous, but ill let you have that. have fun in 1938.

and for the records, she says "I know when you WERE little girls..." talking to adult women, obviously... saying to them that I have been on top before you were here, and now that you are here, I'm still on top...saying this to a specific group of people.

Just curious, who do you listen to? I want to see you apply this picky bitch fit of lyric analysis to someone else

The ones who idolize are the ones who give the status. It's not the other artists, its the fans who give the status. So it her status amongst the fans, of which a substantial number are girls. This isn't some internal memo to r&b singers it's put out there publicly for the *fans*.

She says 'idolized me when you were girls' her words not mine. Of course she's talking about artists not the fans but she's telling the artist that they were fans, to put said artists down.

I didn't say she ruined anything. I said she disregareded (or said fuck all that) because she felt threatened.

> Because she used the work bitch in
>doing so?

You keep focusing on bitch when the problem is bow down = hierarchical ~ patriarchy. Bitch is incidental.

>Thats so fucking ridiculous, but ill let you have
>that. have fun in 1938.

It's 2013 and you're defending the supremacy of a "Queen"

>Just curious, who do you listen to? I want to see you apply
>this picky bitch fit of lyric analysis to someone else

Choice words.

Pretty sure there was a parallel amount of 'outrage' for Trinidad James' use of the word nigga and the whole image he portrayed. I didn't give a fuck about him or the issue and didn't really give a fuck about this beyond whether or not it would enter my daughter's world. Same with Trinidad.

As a parent of daughters who are influenced by people of her status with or without my consent (vis a vis friends, internet etc) a large part of my listening is about knowing what messages they could potentially be receiving from the pop world. The message of this is clear. "Bow Down Bitches". Everything I've had to say comes from that place. It literally has no place in my personal listening.

i'd say i could relate however i just can't get with no Illiuminati support.

somebody need to tell Beyonce to stop crying and make some grown folks music.

to me she is like a crying brat, got the world behind her, using the B Word is a tacky gimmick. i mean this chick is 15 years deep in the game and she is just trying to keep up with RHianna. i mean she outta be in the class and style era not being a wanna be corny Hood rat. Beyonce is one Jive turkey.

this was a bunch of bullshit! lol Sorry to say it but props for getting it on Huff Post. That is a very good look. My reasons for criticizing Beyonce for that hot ass mess of a song have already been stated so no need for me to beat a dead horse....but I'll say this one last thing and leave it alone. She really needs to go back in the studio and come again with some grown folks music and forget about Rihanna and 'em. If anything, she needs to keep her eye on Adele who is slaying everybody right now making Adult Contemporary music that is classic and timeless. Adele pushed 22 million albums last year. Wasn't that what Beyonce was complaining about in her boring ass documentary? Wasn't she just talking about people aren't making albums anymore? Well Adele is making albums and killing it! So the only thing I have to say to Beyonce is focus Bey. Focus! Stay in your lane or it will truly be a wrap! She better get her mind right cuz she looking real foolish and insecure right now! smh

Beyonce will lose most of the fans she got if she makes music like that. Show me a black artist that has made great music and moved a lot of units too recently. I can't think of none.

Beyonce will continue to steadily lose fans if she doesn't. She is getting older, has transitioned into motherhood and is a wife now. She needs to leave that ratchet mess alone. You don't go from singing at the White House & talking about women empowerment to saying "bow down bitches". Ain't nobody tryna hear that from her except her most diehard stans. Everybody else is shaking their head and ain't fucking with that foolishness. She better get her mind right!

Sade's "Soldier of Love" album pushed over 500,000 copies the first week out the gate and was #1 in over 13 countries worldwide with a successful sold out tour. Grown folks music!

There artists who are artists first and artists who are celebrities first.

The desire to need to be a celebrity is what will have you looking like a damn fool singing Bow Down Bitches.

Everybody understands it. Beyonce and Sade are nothing alike. Sade has presented her brand the same way over three decades. Bringing her in as an example to counter what Bey is currently doing makes no sense. Show me a current black artist doing what Sade is doing with the same amount of success. You can't.

What im saying is that at some point in an artists career, they have to decide which way they're going to go, the artistic side or the entertainment side.

Beyonce has walked the line for some time now and I would go as far to saying, represents herself more on the artistic side. Problem is, her song choice and actions don't align with that.

People see Beyonce as having the talent to be in that class of respected popular artists like Mariah, Whitney, Sade, Adele etc but Beyonce is only on their level as far as popularity, not as a respected artist. This song now knocks her even farther away which is why I think some people are more disappointed than mad.

Those artists I named can and will perform into an old age. The Music Beyonce is doing is not going to allow that. You think she will sell out a tour when she is closing in on 60 like Sade singing Bow Down Bitches? People don't want to hear that bullshit.

Again, not comparing her musically or even artistically to Sade, just her public perception. She should be on those other legendary acts' level easily.

But SHE is keeping herself from getting there by doing things like this.

And I really don't care one way or the other becaus I don't listen to her. It's just a little unbelievable that people don't see what the issue it to me.

Beyonce could have that following too but only if she has the courage to grow artistically and put out the right music. "Bow down Bitches" ain't it! Beyonce is popular but she isn't timeless. She has the potential to be though. There just seems to be waaaaaaay too many people gassing her up like she has reached the pinnacle of artistic growth and success when there is still much room for improvement! Beyonce's stans are her biggest supporters yet they are her biggest enemies at the same time because according to them she can do no wrong. If I was her I wouldn't trust them! smh

done so far makes me think she's interested in artistic growth.

Oh she can make any type of music she wants but not everything she makes should be released to the public...and if it is released...everything she makes isn't always going to be well received by the public either.

I grew up listening to real soul music and I can appreciate Adele. She isn't soul music at all and I personally do not refer to her as such. She is Adult Contemporary Pop music. Her songwriting is the truth!

& shot dead iin the head. grown people cannot complain about the quality of music being made by younger people if we sit around & divide music between youth or old head. ageism sucks either way. growing up i heard the musical youth on the radio next to luther vandross. music is either good or it isn't. bow down is HEAVILY hip hop driven so it should sound like a rap song, which is what i think beyonce was aiming for. & i will instantly not like beyonce if she dared to try to do what adele or sade is doing. that is not, nor has it ever been her ilk. i don't need my artists to grow up more than i need them to evolve/change.

the comparison to nigga? is BS???

The same thing AFKAP said I already pointed out in a previous thread. I'm not invested enough into Beyonce and her career to debunk Fire's article. She is entitled to her opinion and I have way more things I need to concentrate on this beautiful Sunday morning.

The bottom line is this...Beyonce ain't making no statement against the patriarchal system. She is just cattily telling other females in the game to "bow down" because she feels threatened and insecure in her position. She is just terrified of being forgotten about and surpassed by those she feels looked up to her. It ain't hard to see that. Beyonce is really a fluffy kind of artist and not a deep thinking, serious and revolutionary kind of artist. If anything she has heavily played into the patriarchal system her entire career but that is a whole other discussion.

did she say she was making a statement against the patriarchal system??

she is pointing out a double standard that men can say bitch and nigga all day but.... beyonce has been taken to task for something the PATRIARCHAL system allows time and time again from men...

smfh

her point wasnt about beyonce at all...its about sexism. regardless if beyonce has played into that her whole career. her point STILL stands.

its sexist that a women is being called out in popular music for using the word bitch

"i got 99 problems and a bitch aint one"

rolling stone named that song #2 of the decade

>Actually...it was a well-measured point....

psssst...No it isn't. It's a bunch of well written bullshit and a lame attempt at making this wack song into something deeper than what it really is or rather in this case isn't. Beyonce just hella insecure right now about her place in the game. Like I said before more than once... You don't go from talking about female empowerment and singing at the White House to "bow down bitches" and not expect to be called out for being a HYPOCRITE and FAKE.

I now see why you like this wack ass "bow down bitches" song. Grown folks are able to have an intelligent discussion and disagree without getting all emotional and bent out of shape like you are getting. So it makes sense that you can't grasp the HYPOCRISY myself and others are pointing out and why the overwhelming majority of people (the buying public) ain't feeling this type of song from Beyonce. Yet you have the nerve to call people dummies and thick? lmao Comedy!

Her article ain't about beyonce according to you YET Fire starts off her post saying this...

>i wrote something on beyonce for the huffington post
>if u get a chance, please read
>thanks

The only dummy here is you. Who pissed in your cornflakes this morning?

I wasn't even talking to you. lol You jumped into the middle of a "convo" I was having with that Howard Lloyd cat who came at me with the flamethrower typing disrespectfully and using all kinds of question marks and exclamation points behind his words which indicates high levels of emotion. So I told him to calm down and rightfully so. I have been laughing and continue to laugh at the ridiculousness of this thread. It is COMEDY! Don't try to turn the tables on me and make it seem like I'm acting irrationally when I wasn't even talking to you and barely typed a paragraph in your direction. Like really dude? I am straightforward and direct with my opinions and I am not afraid to express them. I'm not screaming at you.

SCREAMING AT YOU WILL LOOK LIKE THIS. IF YOU EVER SEE ME TYPING AT YOU LIKE THIS THEN I AM SCREAMING AT YOU.

So with that being typed...I'm too smart and don't have to do that in order to get my point across. Talk to your boy Howard and tell *that* fool to turn it down.

"Oh... Sofia home, now. Sofia home. Things is gonna be changin' around here. Pass me them peas!"

and...Yes I am a female!

In response to Reply # 33

The article's point does not relate to the actual reason people are upset about the song.

It's doesn't have a damn thing to do with women saying the word bitch.

It has to do with Beyonce sayin the word bitch in the CONTEXT that she did.

The article is basically creating another issue, and while no one is arguing that it isn't an issue on another level, it has nothing to do with the backlash over the Beyonce song.

People have made the point that RiRi sang the song, or P!nk at that just in case people want to pull out race, there would be NO backlash.

This issue has everything to do with a specific artist's public perception that they themselves lended a large hand in creating, and the way in which ones actions don't live up to that very perception.

Also, the article is inaccurate because the same thing would happen to a male artist. No one would lose their mind if almost ANY male rapper made a song Bow Down Bitches or Bow Down N*gg*s. but rest assure that if an artist with a positive rep like Usher or JT...or you pick the artist made the song, there would be the same question marks.

The real issue is that there really aren't that many positive acts out there who children can look up to and since Beyonce has been one of them for a while now, it amplifies the shock factor in this song from people who don't know her ignorant side.

Bottom line is, at the end of day, Fire's article reads like a complaint that says "why can't we be ignorant too!" Like she is offended a 30+ year old woman can't be ignorant and irresponsible. My question is, why is that something worth fighting for? Why is that something worth getting this lame article full of excuses all the way to huff?

LOL @ taking the stance of "if I want to call bitches bitches then I have that right and fuck you to try to stop me and fuck all the young kids that look up to me because I've worked so hard to be their role model"

Come on man, the whole shit is ignorant.

I HATE when people compare music acts to actors. Two entirely different professions. One is based on ACTING.

man she BEEN showing her ignant side
just not necessarily in this fashion
i'm not disagreeing with your over all statement but
i just wanted to say that lol
she has a few songs out as a solo artist and as a member of destiny's child
that have questionable values attached

i personally think people are not mad at the ignorance but the arrogance

THAT'S ENOUGH

Like I said, she's been walking that line and I don't think she's done enough for parents to say "nah my daughter isn't listening to this".

Her biggest theme has been women empowerment so that has earned her enough points for people to turn a blind eye to those few songs.

This one is so over the top it's ridiculous. I mean, her husband who is a rapper made a song claiming a bitch isn't his problem has even said he wasn't using the word any more, and then here she goes.

Lol.

but that has nothing to do with patriarchy and that's why the whole thing is a reach.

Men can be arrogant, women cannot and will essentially point to X male artists.
It'll be argued it has everything to do w/ patriarchy.
Women (in music) should be allowed and accepted the same amount of assholisms afforded to and accepted by men.

I can already see the push-bash here.

This idiot Howard Lloyd ran in the thread with his cape on attacking me with the flamethrower and tampon stringing for you and Beyonce because *he* was the one who didn't understand what *I* was saying. When I said Beyonce isn't making some grand stance against patriarchy that wasn't in rebuttal against what you wrote but just a statement to setup the next point I made about Beyonce being more of a fluffy artist and not a deep thinking, serious, revolutionary type of artist. Dude ran in and got his head chopped off. He should have asked me to clarify. I totally understand what you wrote in your article. I just do not agree.

in this post you have

(1) mis-read
(2) lied (i came in the post attacking you? my first post wasnt even in response to you...then you cried about non-existent exclamation points... excessive question marks really hurt your feeling)
(3) back pedaled on your patriarchy statement
(4) repeatedly stated "What i meant" ...which indicated you have a problem expressing yourself clearly or lack the english skills to do so.
(5) fabricated events by saying i'm a beyonce fan or i like the song or saying i said beyonce was making a grand statement

and its all above

I don't think that's the problem people had with the song. Had Rihannj made that joint, no complaints because it fits with the way she has presented herself over the years. What B did would be similar to ATCQ making a joint in line with the content of Spice 1. They would catch equally hell if they attempted to release a song like that. Again, great move and Congrats! Please explain the unforgivably black part though.

We don't know her for showing emotion, especially anger. Even "Ring The Alarm" seemed uncomfortable yet it worked cause it was another scorned love song.

But this? It's out of character. Sad, cause this song bangs. If Rihanna made it, cool. Rihanna made her lane of badass music. But Beyonce? She's need way more people.

Shit, if Drake made "bow down bitches" the backlash would be worse. If LL Cool J made "bow down bitches" there would be backlash. Of course Drake borders on blatant misogyny every now and then, but "Bow down bitches" sounds like an angry 14 year old making direct shots towards women, or am I tripping?

I appreciate what you're doing as a writer, but I hate what you're saying. You're using Beyonce's artistic misstep to fuel more genderwars.

This is a complex debate and should be treated as such...

I don't agree with all of Fire Luv's points...it can't clearly be boiled down to B and other women simply wearing the yoke of patriarchy...However, there is indeed an element of that going on...I think Fire's point about men slinging that B word like it's going out of style in real life and in art was pretty fucking spot on...

Yet to me this debate is being shaped by a myriad of factors...

Class: B the middle class Houston girl who trying to be 'hood "down"...she really does need more people...

The Pop Music Rat Race: My main beef with B's new joint has always been that it reeks of desperation...She is more successful than Rihanna...She can sell out an arena faster than Rihanna....She is more respected than Rihanna...B is simply the bigger STAR...Yet B feels she has to keep up with Rih Rih because the kids no longer see her as "cool"....Rihanna is that cutting edge pop star...The one that you want to go to party with, smoke a blunt with, ect...B is afraid of becoming that big, older sister who you no longer want to go to the movies with if u were 14 years old...

B'S HISTORY: She has always played the role of being above it all...And frankly that was her charm...That's what I always loved about her...The new joint just doesn't feel right...

But I will say this....the outrage over this song has been WAAAAAAAY TOO LOUD....U would have thought Beyonce shot Gloria Steinem in the ass...

I think a lot of people who are jumping on B's side (Beyond the rabid STANS) are taking more offense to this over-reach more than anything else...

racism and misogyny are enforced using the same tactics.
i have no idea what it's like being a woman, but i think i can empathize with them
because i know what it's like to be black.

i may have an opinion on how a woman should feel about _____ .
i have a right to that opinion, of course. hell, maybe it's even accurate in some respects.

but at the end of the day, i don't have to deal with misogyny,
so there's a decent chance i don't (fully) understand what it's like.

i generally don't tell women that _______ is not a big deal.
because i know how obnoxious it can be when a white person tells me that ______ is not a big deal.

everybody has a right to their opinion,
but i may decide that a person's opinion holds less weight to me based on the fact
that they've never experienced ______ .

and no, i'm not saying a white person can't have insightful things to say about racism.
sometimes, they can be MORE objective about a situation because they don't have to deal with it.

but i'm not a woman
just like they're not black...

so... yeah.
it just is what it is.

Placing in Huff Post is what's up!

murph pretty summed up already what I was going to say on this whole Bow Down thing.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scratching my head a little when I first heard it, but I honestly don't give a damn enough to protest and march the streets over Beyonce cussin' like people seen to be ready to do..

Yes its out if place for her..as far as how she has presented herself in the past... but people are OVERdoin it being up in arms over the song.

nowhere in Fire's article is she saying B is speaking to patriarchy

she is saying the response(s) is/are indicative of a patriarchal social construct/complex that many of us as men tolerate and animate on a daily basis

if you are trying to argue the first point you MISREAD. the second point you can disagree with, but there is a why attached to your disagreement that should be answered

like a few have said in this thread it's not SOLELY patriarchy that's animating the replies, but the type of artist Beyonce has shaped herself to be in the public eye. different artist would've made the same damn song to no "outrage"... anyway

as for the song itself, i like the beat, it was poorly executed tho IMO. the autotune ending is particularly terrible

This has everything to do with this going against the grain of the persona Beyonce had built for herself.

Comparing her to her husband is silly because he has been saying "bitch" since Reasonable Doubt and has been very misogynistic throughout his career so it wouldn't come as a shock.

Beyonce's whole steeze being pro-women (from the anthems to the all girl band, to her recent pro-women thoughts in her doc) doesn't mean she shouldn't ever utter "bitch" on record, it just means when she does people are going to check that against her past and find it at odds.

And that's all there is to it.

And for the record, I'm a woman.

that a relatively minor Beyonce lyric is getting interpreted and re-interpreted across the media...

Hate the fact that most are doing it pretty poorly, of course, but think it's cool nonetheless...

Although I have to admit that the refashioning of Beyonce into some sort of girl-power-hero has seemed odd to me for a while, and sort of requires one to overlook the fact that her attitudes toward other women have often been tinged with dismissal or superiority... making her out to be a proto-feminist takes a lot of effort (not that this is what your article was about of course)

After all of the empty, gold digging anthems she's made this is the song that has people up in arms? Not "Soldier" which is basically an ode to drug dealers and street dudes, not "Bills, Bills, Bills" but this throw away smack talking song that was probably co-written by Jay or Memphis Bleek? She's made songs that carry a far more "negative" message than a song telling other wack R&B chicks that she's better than them and they need to get off the tit.

I posted this as a comment response to the article:

"Just as the author implied. Had this been a white male rocker or a black male rapper, this backlash wouldn't exist. For some of the complaints-

'Her image is suppose to be clean, sanitized, and always for women's empowerment'

According to whom? Who, besides Beyonce, really think they have the authority to tell her how to act, how to speak, how to represent herself? Perhaps people's expectations of Beyonce are too rigid.

I saw Meghan McCain tweet the other day "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe" quoting a Kendrick Lamar song. The daughter of a Republican senator ex-presidential candidate, a Republican herself tweeting 'BITCH Don't Kill My Vibe'. And guess what? There was no backlash. Fox News didn't bury her. Nobody cared.

And how phony is it to pretend that Beyonce could never show anger towards other females just because she wrote songs like "Independent Women," "Single Ladies," and "Who Runs The World (Girls)." Just because she wrote a string of positive songs doesn't mean that she chained to a one-dimensional caricature of polished pop female empowerment. She is a human being first and foremost, and the human experience includes a wide range of emotions,. She's allowed to express that as an artist, regardless of what she's written or performed prior.

'The song is terrible'

No. You just don't like it. Any hip-hop fan from Houston, TX understands the song and its allusion to Chop and Screw culture. But I understand street hip-hop a'int for everybody."

she would ruffle a few feathers with the song.

it seemed that after her "documentary", the response to seeing a less manicured, SLIGHTLY more raw beyonce was positive, encouraged, even.

i didn't find the song particularly controversial though.

congrats on getting the huffpo look though. people bitching about the misinterpretation/misrpresentation of the song on fire's part, well, imo they have a point but it may be a sidecar point to the one fire was ultimately trying to make. and that point - that people get their panties in a bunch when beyonce says bitch - could be very true.

who knows. congrats again, tho.
