For this one I took the part I wanted to sample and chop it into two parts and layer the parts. Then I added a process drumloop I like. The drumloop gives it that swing. Then I added alot of effects to the sample and drums(reverbs, delays, and compressors). I added an sample bassline from an juno 106 then layer with some string. The beat comes off very chill laidback. Let me know how you like it.

I dug the slow build up on the track along with that warbley (is that a word?) sounding filter you have on the track.

The drums give it a world music kinda flavor.

I'm not mad at this one at all, kid.

Keep it up.

I loved the intro with just a pinch of bass and the soothin filter!!!

Then the flanged midboosted drums dropped and I was like, YEAH, this shhh dope -

The verbsoaked hats/cymbals really gives it that oldschool 90s vibe!!!

The extra layer (Juno) confused me a bit cause its so "off" from the introchops in terms of general tuning, but im guessin you were aimin for that!?

Anyways, def. a nice 1st!

Somethin different AND creative how you implemented the Juno and stuff...

the ideas in this beat are super dope, i think you found a great break that matches the sample

but the processing of the break and the sample just don't really match up IMO, like the ambient noise that came from compressing/reverbing/etc the drums drowns out the sample most of the time. when the break drops out and you get on your so far gone shit the sample sounds real nice

also im all about getting creative and doing something different for a rap beat but i waited the whole best for a nice bass-y kick drum to come in with that break and never got it. probably wouldn't matter with a rapper goin over the beat but as a pure instrumental that element is missing for me

good shit tho, ima keep an eye out for more of your stuff for sure

thanks for the reply. After posting it, I decide that I added bass when not need (juno) but decide to keep the strings as background. Also took your advice and see if an 808 could help out the kick. It did but I'm not sold on it yet. But the bass was not filter probably and that's why you can't hear the sample sometimes. I guess I just add too much shit. I'm outta control. Also I'm need to not force shit (ie basslines) just because.

i dont say that just cos im stoned, but cos of the drunk tempo. starts quick then slows down then speeds up again. some might call it offbeat but it works. dug the selection of samples.

I let this one simmer for a couple of days, but here it is.

Process: I read in the YouTube comments that Curren$y had already used the sample, so I checked that out to avoid doing something too similar unintentionally.

The sample got chopped with my Geist plugin. I only added the drum sounds - everything else is from the Kawashima joint.

Maybe you remember from the last challenge that I experimented with drum compression. I've begun using a compressor with a dry/wet knob that allows me to do parallel compression without the hassle of using 2-3 different tracks for the main drum sounds. I'd say the effect is almost the same.

What I also did for this beat is experiment with different hi hat patterns. When they change, it gives you the illusion of the beat speeding up and slowing down again. The beat is 95 BPM all the way through, however.

Be back tomorrow. Peace.

That dry/wet adjuster sounds real sweet! Will def. save you LOTTA time when workin in general...

Drums was nice -

Lots of PUNCH to your kick - I need more of that in my life lol!!!

Props on the hat experiment -

Closed ones sounded a bit short, gated or whatever, but the long hat/ride/cymbal really tied em together!

I like the way you layered the chops and utilized the bass slidin from one note to another in the B-part of the main loop!

Also, you had them lil vox parts blendin real nice and soundin smooth as hell!!!

Good shhh - SOLID shhh.

Thanks, man! You know what? I almost canned the kick sound after fiddling to long with it. I'm glad that I waited a few days to listen to the beat again with fresh ears. Sometimes I drive myself crazy and cloud my own judgment by doing too much!

I think the main reason these drums have punch is not compression. I compressed them VERY sparingly. It's all about what sounds you start with. And the sounds I used here are stacked kicks and snares. I design them mostly myself. My method is somewhat similar to what Pete Marriott explained in an OkayTutorial way back when (that's were I learned it from). You can still find his explanation here: http://www.illmuzik.com/forums/threads/pete-marriotts-hip-hop-production-tutorial.14118/

About the closed hi hat sound: I'll check that out. I didn't occur to me that the sample might just be too short. Interesting...

Gives the sampled drums your own imprint, creates somethin fresh and unique really...

I tend to get all hypnotized by moving the millisecond delay between my layers back and forth to create the perfect dynamic, before crushin it to pieces lol...

Like Judono said, the levels and clarity in the track are REAL nice.

I dig the drums you chose and the vibe of the track.

That bass from the sample is coming through nicely.

Sounds like some vinyl reanimators type joint.

I dig, fam.

Good work.

yo this is a really dope approach to the sample, props on this beat

in my quest to give everybody some constructive feedback tho im about to get real nitpicky but its only bc i know u know what you're doing here so it's all outta love and respect

so IMO the drum mixing is loud compared to the sample; the snare is way present in the mix which isn't always bad but it's a little too much for me here

also the kick has a little too much high freq background noise on it to me, it'd work way more organically if you filtered the highs out and had just a bassy sub kick. and with regards to the kick, there's a part of your drum pattern that features the kick like right before the snare; IMO if you filter the highs outta the kick and then move it just a little closer to the snare to give it that swing it'd sound way dope, bc right now it sounds a little amateur-y

still tho it's one of the nicer beats that's been put up for sure and you worked the sample really nice. im making these suggestions bc the beat is sounding a little generic with the drum sounds when it dont have to

Good ear! Those were exactly the game time decisions I had to make: High cut the kick? Pull down the snare?

I always seem to have trouble finding the right snare level - so that's a given.

And the kick? That's why I almost canned it: I couldn't find the right balance in the freqs. I finally left the highs of the kick as they are because I used the hi hats so sparingly and wanted to fill that part of the spectrum a bit more.

So, I had my doubts and waited for someone to confirm them. So here we go, LOL. Thanks!

In response to Reply # 7

I decided I wanted to try out some of your suggestions over the week-end and, to me, that really made the sound better.

Some extra reverb just on the closed hi hat extended the sustain and made it longer. I filtered out some of the highs of the kick and reduced the snare level. Had to adjust things in some other places, but just a bit to make the sound coherent. Funked up the kick pattern too.

I re-uploaded the track on Soundcloud. Unfortunately, the comments you gave me there got lost in the process. Sorry about that. But let me again say thank you for your feedback! Much love! Much appreciated!

These OKP chops are such a great opportunity to exchange thoughts and learn something new. I feel like your input helps me to slowly put the pieces of the puzzle together. So, muchas gracias, y'all!!

an emcee over this would.sound.phat.
i think im hearing the re-upped version so the drums sound sweet to me. levels are good enuf to blend into the rest of the track.
and as others have pointed out, the clarity of sound quality u achieved is pretty impressive.
only thing i can think of is to add something extra that wasnt from the sample, maybe a counter melody or sumthn. but dope all round.

This time, kept it simple:

Built the intro piano line durin my 1st sketch, kept it and scrapped the rest!

ahh... drums...

Went on to built a set of drums since thats always a nice way to set the tone.
Got em nice soundin with HEAVY comp/limit - kilt off all dynamics as usual lol...

hmm... main line...

Found the chord with the longest sustain without drums, chopped and pitched it.
Added two more chords pitched to diff. notes than the first, added a heavy lo cut filter to the main line.

b-b-bass...

For the bass I went deep. Maybe too deep but oh well. Guessin itll make a decent trunkwoofer rattle as a mofo lol...

And thats it really.

ENJOY. DISCUSS. HATE. LOVE.

Lemme know what it is...

I can definitely envision an MC spitting on this!

The little things like the vinyl crackle add a lot to the vibe you have going there.

Don't know if a little more mid-lows to the samples (somewhere around 400 to 1000 Hz) would have made the beat mesh even more. I'd have to listen to that one though to be sure...

only thing that would've made this better is if you had like one bar every 16 bars that had a different drum pattern. was waiting for a kick that slots up right next to a snare ha

hahaha word well to be honest i ain't got too much constructive feedback to give on this beat bc you worked that shit real well

idk if this matters to you but i will say that i knew what your beat was gonna sound like before I opened it up: deep kicks, hihats with heavy swing, bone-rattling snare, etc

you mix your shit well enough to where it dont really matter, it always sounds good, but i really think you could just use the same drums with a diff sample and nobody would blink bc we know your style

now shit, dj premier became a legend of essentially making the same beat over and over for about 20 yrs and im not mad at that – id just challenge you to challenge yourself, see if you can make a hot beat without doing what you know, you WILL surprise yourself. reason this didn't come to mind the first time i checked your beat out is bc im a sucker for a sample with a lighter mood paired with some dirty ass drums on some mobb deep infamous shit, so this wasn't the one to go wild on BUT it's something to think about at least lol

not a weak joint yet Torch.
i envy the level of sound quality/clarity some of y'all achieve. i think im just too lazy to put in the time for that aspect of my shit, but i always admire those who do. just gives everything that pro sheen (w/out taking away from the natural grit of the beat).
drums knock as always.
samples came thru soundin plum lovely.

i got a question: how come u havent produced for some rap cats yet? emcees would go bananas over these. unless u have already?

Far as clarity goes, shhh, im still workin on that too. That balance between grit and sharp? - hard one...

I really SUCK at managin myself, and I wouldnt trust anyone else with that, sooo, that = few overseas connections, as of yet.

Im workin on it tho. Got some stuff in the works.

Been workin with a few dope emcees in my home country, now Im tryin to make that happen internationally as well.

Dunno where to start. Ship beats to labels? Directly to rappers? Do instrumental series for the blogs? Youtube beatmakin vids?

Im tryin things out. Will get there eventually.

Thanks a lot.

Anyways, I can relate very well to the questions in your post above...

If you're doing the pop thing or that fake gangster thing, then you might be successful. But good lord, I don't want none of that!

IMO the quality of the music has been lacking in the last years. In that sense, Germany's mirroring what's going on all over the world. Only some bright spots in an overall gloomy picture. Some dope cats in the underground strugglin' like everyone else.

Let's hope that there will be a renaissance: music from the soul, great MCing. Until then, I'm just trying to be the change I am waiting for...

For example: There's this dude from my hometown called Wun Two that I recently discovered on SoundCloud (https://soundcloud.com/wun-two). Now, I don't know him personally yet, but I plan to contact him to see what's on his mind.

But if he's still doing this in his bedroom instead of being a household name, then somethings wrong with this world...

Like, real solid melody!!!

Sadly it dont come all the way thru cause of the quality -

Id love to hear this as a fullspectrum production lo´s, mid and hi´s spread a bit more out!!!

Lots of synthy wobble wobble warpish warbly stuff goin on - good for breakdowns...

And you got your BoneThugs on once again hah, good shhh!

Howd you bang it out???

I actually did this last night. After work. Sipped some chevas regal on the rocks.. Yuck in two chains voice.. Then shit starts to get a little fuzzy from there. Im still on the tascam digital 8track and recording my shit live in real time one track at a time. Roland sp sampler. Drum programming live. Shit all was all on overdrive last night. and some delay. Sounds fucked up, but that was how it went down. I actually did a version with vocals, but u can barely hear how i freaked the shit without vocs.. So i deleted my rhyme off.. The sound quality is on some fuck shit. I need a engineer

a handful of the lyrics went like:

deep sea,
bottom of the ocean,
colorful creations,
underwater inspirations,
the luscious,
flavor gushes,
you can't touch this,
lyrical bum rush shit....

watch how i bust it

i know there's good shit going on in this beat but dawg i can't really hear it bc everything's blown out

don't get me wrong i love that lofi sound for sure but if you gonna do that then the drums gotta be simplified and really knock or else it's can sound like a thick wall of impossible to pick out sounds

love the snare sounds you picked tho, that click-sounding snare is super fucking ill how it rises over everything. more of that sort of mixing would've been dope

whole vibe is on some chillwave shit which im a big fan of, so lo-fi isnt doesnt really bug me. but it wouldve probly benefited from a bit more EQing. n theres always a whole lot of stuff goin on in ur trax. have to listen close enough to hear it all.

wow @ those last 10-12secs. that was a whole nother track waiting to happen.

the main issue is the levels, but I can see once you get the proper hands on this to mix everything in, it would be dope.

The creativity is hidden due to the levels being off.

Mix this joint and you got a good one.

I've put (maaaany) beats together where I simply tried to do too much and kinda forced the issue. Took me years to figure this out and leave good enough alone. Maybe that's what happened here?

I could listen to the part from 7 to 35 seconds all day. But then the music wanders off for too long IMO.

So just trim the fat, I'd say, and you have a banger.

the law of diminishing returns is what happened here, imo....

I TOTALLY agree with you on letting that change run too long.

At most maybe 4 bars and then back to the main (7-35)...I was thinking this the whole time I was mixing in logic but I had no desire to re-dump due to time constraints.

It's all practice, but general feedback like this is what I need to improve on the lil shit.

Thanks for the feedback, fam.

Much appreciated.

my main thing about this beat is that you didn't convince me that those drums were best suited for the sample. like those are some nice drums that hit real clean and crispy with a pretty unique pattern (i like that random sub kick that pops up) but it doesn't mesh with the sample well enough for me to really groove to it

you've got a pretty active part of the sample that blooms and has all these interesting ticks and sounds and shit... let that bitch breathe! if i got a complex sample, i try not to dress it up with super active drums. the start-stop feel of the drums kinda clash with the wandering sample too much IMO

but yea not tryna hate at all and obv this is just my own opinion, just tryna offer some (hopefully) constructive criticism. chop on son

The drums are what were giving me the problems now that I think about it.

trying to make the kick thump and the snare snap without being too snappy....THEN finding a way to merge them drums with the others sounds in a way that sounded natural.....that was killin me! lol

Ahh well.....

Live and learn..

Meanin that it sounds different from the original, which is somewhat harder to achieve than the opposite to me... Just my thoughts...

Also, them crazy beatbends you put in there??? - ridic...

I like the lil doublesnare hit at the end loops - nice dry hats and snare... Good shhh.

this is another one where, if it had some rhymes on it, it would take it to another level. it's just waiting for the rhymes.

i like the samples u chose to work with. i like how u snuck in a few tricks , like around 0:40 and 0:50 w/ the stutter, for example.. and how you have the bassline playing in the background, and you changed the groove of the bass melody from 0:35 - til like 1:05, and then brought the main melody back.

dope beat.

its been a minute since ive been round these parts so first and foremost what up yall

this was a frustrating beat to make. i worked on it for about an hour, hit a wall, stopped, chilled for a long time, forgot about the project, then came back and reworked it into a jam in like 10 minutes. i think i like how it came out lemme know peoples

shout out to torchbaras tho btw, that beat is extremely on point

That's dope! I especially like how your drums smack.

The distortion gives your track some edge. The change-up is nicely done.

One thing though: if my ears don't deceive me, the tone of the snare seems a bit off-key. It becomes most noticeable during the change-up. Does someone else hear that too?

appreciate it yo!

and i guess i see what you mean about the snare but that wasn't really an element that i considered for the key of the song. that's just a snare from a break that i slowed down to give the drums a fuller, deeper smack

good catch tho especially if its present enough to be noticeable

the vibe of the track is nice.

I dug the change up more than anything else.

Reminds me of some wu tang, old style Rza ish a bit.

Good work, kid.

Not at all mad.

side note...I always seem to have the hardest time with the dopest samples. lol. What part of the game is that?!?!?!?!

Anyway....keep it up, man.

Mos def. that RAW!!!

I like the ruff feelin of the mainline, with the distortion and the heavy locut...

Drums has the same rawness and sounds real live too - thats dope!

Switch up was perfect for this, and the reversed bringback with the lil scratchy sounds? - DOPE!

Nothin else to say really, this goes!!!

Solid work man...

this is a east coast throw back in terms of the flavor. i like the reverse sample switch up at the 0:56 mark too.. this is a dope beat. it needs some rhymes on it to really be appreciated.

Drums got a a great laidback bounce, sounds nice, AND you could still press some mo juice outa em in a final mix!!!

Chops are on point, simple and fits right in the pocket plus they triggered right!

My fav. part is actually the intro, 0:10 - you´ve really got THE loop there IMHO...

You def. have a great ear for soul chops man...

the little vocal "aaahhh" halfway thru was gold.
drums on point.
snare seems a little loud in the mix, takes me out of the samples vibe for a spell. but otherwise dope.

that eli manning picture had me laughing dude. this is another beat that reminds me of some east coast flavor from the late 90s. i like the way you chopped up your sounds on here. your snare is snappy but a little too clean. if you coulda threw a effect on it to make it a little dirtier, it woulda been even more raw.

i like that 'beat drugs' beat you did too.. that shit is player to me.

Found a couple of nice melodies and chopped them up. Chopped up some nice vocal tones. Made them line up with the tempo. Added drums and ish with a nice little pattern. Most of the chops came from the vocal part I sampled. Oh, I used a shaker as a substitute for a hi-hat. I filtered some of the kicks through the low pass mode.

duuuuuude that opening portion before the vocal chops is my favorite piece of music that's come from this round so far. id recommend a real thin kinda snare (like the one on mr me too by clipse) to go at every other 1/4 bar bc that little chop you put in is just begging for a steady, propulsive but light drum pattern. love the idea of that out of sync snare but the beat just a tad more structure for me. that said, that shit was genius so props for that.

but the vocal chops get almost too busy for me, the simplicity of that opening section blew me away and i was zoning out but the chops snapped me back to reality. it's just a bit much, almost forced bc in theory vocal chops work well but in practice that little line you found in the keys (no clue how you even found that sound so fucking huge props for that) is just too good to fuck with. good shit, ima keep an eye out for your stuff yo

Drums are nice - kick got plenty lo end, dry rims (lol) and claps - plus shaker always a good look!

I like the initial vibe of this, def. fits the name - I dunno bout the blend tho -

To me the background melody collides with he main vox chop, and it sounds like they are constantly fightin for the attention!

Far as I can hear, main reason for this confusion, is they tuned waaay diff. from eachother...

Anyways, props on the creative approach man!!!

this one is off kilter . it has a different groove then all the other joints in here. when the voc sample comes in at 0:36 , the vibe starts coming together. i've said this about a few other beats, and maybe the same can be said about them all--- but the right vocals or rhymes on here are what will take the beat to a different level. somebody just has to know how to catch the groove

Lil intro build up with the guitar echoin out was nice...

Drums are dry as a mofo, moving with a nice pace,
theres always a chance that laid back vibes like these sounds dull, but you managed to keep the speed!!!

The A piece DOPE as hell, with the lil piano delayin out and back in, this shhh could go on for a whole verse...

Also, the B part serves as the perfect break with the sustained strings serving as counterweight to the more choppy A part!!!

Good shhh man, dope dope!!!

https://soundcloud.com/vahelien/vahe-welcome.

originally was guna house it up once more, but instead used the same sample (from the uptempo bits) to sloowww it right down. dug the loop so much i laid down sum vocals over it. ended up being a cover of Maxwell's "Welcome". then the 2nd half uses two separate samples, a short snippet from the real quiet bits of the song, and a pitched down guitar lick. add "Sub Kick" from FL and voila.

and i know im not technically a vocalist but sumtimes i get inspired n shit. be gentle.

Awesome, dude! Like it a lot!

Your singing reminds me of Steve Arrington (of Slave fame). You definitely have a feel for that. Maybe a bit too much verb on the vocals for my taste.

The music's dope too. Something about the cymbals / hi hats bugs me, tho. Did you put delay on them? Or are they just to prominent in the mix? I don't know for sure. But it's almost like you have to listen to the rest of the music through a veil - if that makes any sense, LOL.

Yes. Very good description. And I'd like to add to yours and go one step further and say that hes like a Steve Arrington/Terrance Trent Darby hybrid!

And I mean this in a very complimentary way!

I looped that part pretty much just like this and I can say that I felt the same way listening to it when I was done. The more I tried to EQ it, the worse I felt that it got. Didnt have the mental energy to keep trying to figure it out so I just let it sit there and sizzle and hiss.
But I def. feel you on that.

i think it made me less self-conscious bout doing vocals, its easier to hide shitty vox or offnotes with reverb (ive found).

i actually didnt do anything to that loop but EQ like a mug, butye, it was tough to get some clarity so it sounds a tad muddy.

but the fact that you went with THAT PART of the song,
and you funked it up vocally - thats the big PLUS!!!

I know I, for one, aint even think of freakin that section. Too rich, too pumped, too groovy... Lots of reasons.

But you just did it. Eff that, this groovy, ima go for it, add some sangin lol... Shits just DIFFERENT.

I applaud different when different is right. Much like much of Js work, which I see you reacted to too!!! Dynamics and creativity rules in the land of tightly structured, patternbased OCDish beatmakers - grass is always greener lol...

Your voice is OFF THE CHAIN too. This was a really creative take on the sample. I know someone said that there was too much reverb but that really gave it a live feel.

Love it when someone takes it and just goes entirely left...

Come to grips with the fact that most OKP's are of the Nut Hugger lineage, so, if you' re not part of the little cliques that exist 'round here, your posts will probably tank like Souljaboy's album sales.

but a total ego-boost lol. i probly need it anyways so thanks.

i think ive carved out a nice niche in these beatoffs for doin somethin non-beaty. figured id take it somewhere else this time.

if ur interested i did some more vocal type tracks last yr that ended up on my 90min demo: http://soundcloud.com/monsignorvee.

oh n the demo itself: https://soundcloud.com/vahekosh/veez-demo-tape.

And I like stuff that's outside of what everyone else is doing BUT still good ("still good" being a very important part of that statement because some folks think that just being different is enough).

Not to compare you to Drake, but, for example, that's why, when I heard the So Far Gone mixtape, I was BLOWN AWAY, because it was just so different from everything else out there at the time. Now, of course, he's omnipresent on urban radio as we speak and it has now become commonplace to hate on him, as is the case with fame.

But, folks can't deny that him and 40 changed the sound of urban radio for a bit there.

And, it takes tremendous balls to not just follow the lead of everyone else that is successful at the time but instead carve your own lane.

Come to grips with the fact that most OKP's are of the Nut Hugger lineage, so, if you' re not part of the little cliques that exist 'round here, your posts will probably tank like Souljaboy's album sales.

https://soundcloud.com/weekly-heaterz/week-10-6-big-apple-blues

Yeah, so I thought the sample had a lil mo to give -
Decided to accept the challenge and do me but DO DIFFERENT...

Found a single piano note and built a two note line from that.
Duplicated and put the heavy filter on one.

Added a snap cause at this point I thought Itd be some smooth type rnb stuff...

Sang along til the bassline revealed itself and punched it in.

Added EXTRA dusty hats, which obviously removed the clean rnbish sound sooo...

I decided to go ´head and add some livesoundin, swingish, bit off drums to the mix anyway!!!
Cant help it, I tried. Couldnt resist.

Put an extra sustained organ line underneath it all to bind and make it "whole", put some phasing fx on dat, AAAND...

Thats that!

Hope yall enjoy it...

i like this sound from you. this goes with my style very well.. after possibly one of my most productive years musically ever in 2012 in terms of output, 2013 for me has been very lame, unproductive, and un inspired. this beat makes me want to lay a verse down. i like the laid back and little more dirtier sound. this is flavor.

5 joints lol... Was afraid itd be quantity over quality but theres def. some HEAT in there!!!

#1 - yeah, I badly wanted to loop that up too lol...

#2 - Oh YES!!! Thats my shhh... Love the chops on here. They simple, but hella effective.
Drums are a lil thin but it actually sounds great with the airy sample.

#3 - Nice interlude sounding joint. Dope how you have two parts to this, real dope!

#4 - Real chill with the snaps and the wayyy in the back organ, focus on the bending bass. Laidback stuff.

#5 - Far out how the joint changed into this right, craaazy sample...

All in all, great work man, great!!!

>5 joints lol... Was afraid itd be quantity over quality but
>theres def. some HEAT in there!!!
>
>#1 - yeah, I badly wanted to loop that up too lol...

This one is prob. the one I feel best about. It was the 1st one I did and basically gave me the idea to just make a few interludes(just couldn't concentrate on just 1 full beat at the moment).

>#2 - Oh YES!!! Thats my shhh... Love the chops on here. They
>simple, but hella effective.
>Drums are a lil thin but it actually sounds great with the
>airy sample.

I can't stand how the drums sound on this but after trying different sounds, I had to remind myself that this is exercise and I've got to move on to other things in life. So I just let it go. Def. don't like the reverb on the snare now that I've heard it several times but it wasn't annoying enough for me to pull it all together.

>#3 - Nice interlude sounding joint. Dope how you have two
>parts to this, real dope!

Thanks. I was basically just trying to make interludes to give me an excuse to fade in/fade out nice an quick before anyone could notice how lazy I was being! lol Just too tired to really dig into it musically.

>#4 - Real chill with the snaps and the wayyy in the back
>organ, focus on the bending bass. Laidback stuff.

I was happy how this one came out. It's one that I'd like to go and revisit sometime when I'm focused.

>#5 - Far out how the joint changed into this right, craaazy
>sample...

Yes it is. It really through me off because it was all so chill and then things got buckwild all of a sudden!

>All in all, great work man, great!!!

Thanks for taking the time to peep them all and provided feedback.
Much appreciated!

idea makes a lotta sense -

Its kinda hard to digest more than a few full joints per artist in these posts, so playin the interlude card is def. a GREAT way to break that!!!

And you came thru with somethin serious, even tho I kinda read from your initial post that you really aint put THAT much ressource/time into it!?

Effortless or not, your shhh dope!!!

its one of those moments when I say to myself "dude you just made 3-4 skeletons trying to get all of your ideas out. You coulda just "focused" that time on just 1 idea and made something full and complete!"

I blame the sample. It had so many options, I just kept thinking that maybe the dopest option was the one I hadn't tried yet!

Try to do everything and end up getting nothing really done I suppose!

I don't mind being flawed, I'm just glad I wasn't wack!

in terms of the chops right here and showin the diversity of samples and the people that flips em -

much rather have a fragmented testiment to the endless possiblies of a dope sample than another obvious loop (which we dont do round here lol)!!!

I dig them all but tracks 1, 3, 5 were the joints in that bunch.

I actually dug #2 as well, but 1, 3 and 5 were dope.

I dig 1 for the shadez of brooklyn sound.

I dig 2 cause you flipped that bassline in particular. Joint is knockin.

# 3 is my favorite tho. The loop is nice and that part you caught was a good moment in that track.

#2.....the drums go HOARD!

Good work, man.

Thanks for peeping each one out so thoroughly.

I wasn't able to listen to any of these outside of headphones so I'm not sure how they sounded out loud in full effect.

Thanks for that info. on #2. I didn't see that comment coming but thanks!!!

Part #1

This here some uptempo ish, I can see people jamming in the summer to this one...

Drumbreak pumps nicely and the filtering on the line works well with the phatness of em!!!

Chorus line/b-piece very catchy, great choice for climax!

The bass is however a bit offtune, but thats minor...

Part #2 was just some ole laidback niceness!!!

I can hear someone with a ruff voice spittin on this - good contrast.

Props on programmin the bass instead of boostin the existin.

Solid work!

Yep, the first beat sounds like a Hiero backdrop. Drums and bass are funky!

Second one is a different vibe altogether. Nice one too.

the 1st part of your beat... i like the uptempo energy, but it sounds like a pre-programmed drum loop/drum break that comes w/ a software program. some of the the chops on the 1st part of your beat were cool, but that one extra little piano sample was a little out of tune w/ the rest.. so the first part was alright, but not my favorite.

now the 2nd part? that shit is dope. 1:57 thru the end... this is some cool shit. all it needs is some rhymes, and they'll see. haha..

Nice one right here -

Simple chops, still lovable.

I like the use of the verb tambourine instead of a snare - thats dope!

The rarely sprinkled hats be a tease, but def. a good one...

Always waitin for them to lead up to the re:loop when the snare drops but it never does...

Tricky, I can dig it.

Here is my submission for the March

i call it Pepe Sanchez (after the Temple Point Guard from the late 90s)

https://soundcloud.com/headnoddaproductions/pepe-sanchez-okp-chop-march

I slowed down a loop a chopped it up some, added a few elements. on the drums just add some percussion elements to a break to give a different feel.

also my headphone jacked broke on the laptop, so i had to mix using my busted laptop speakers.

hope yall enjoy!

Didnt think youd drop this after all - good shhh.

Between that vintage waterdrop-synth and the tremor vox chops one really aint know what to expect but you came thru...

Drums has a nice ring (they literally do lol) to em, old and sloppy - dope!
Rhythm/pace is very onward moving, BPM rather hi?

Your use of the strings and guitar felt nice, and the way you made the swtich back to the vox worked well...

If its ONE thing I should react negatively upon, Id say the bass coulda been boosted a bit.

Anyways,
Great way to end the month...
