The song sounds like an "OF tape vol. 2" reject.
The 2nd song in the video was a little better. Just a little.
That end part of the video (with him on the bike with the White girl), reminds me of an N.E.R.D. video.
Matter of fact, it looks JUST like that N.E.R.D. video (I think its called "Harley").

There's only three, maybe four, listenable tracks on "Goblin." And most of it was Tyler crawling up his own ass.

Might be his best record, but I'm only on my first listen.

The production is great, great features and hooks, quality lyricism from Tyler and the gang.

The lesson will love "TreeHome" lol but it is an incredible record. My second favorite after "IFHY"

Is OF bringing back posse cuts? "Rusty" and then "Oldie" off of the OF vol 2 tape. Only other posse cut of note I've heard in the past year was from Black Hippy/TDE "Black Lip Bastard Remix" off of the Ab-Soul joint.

There is not a young rapper out now who would even
be noticebable in the 90s

A nigga like Earl is basically a Cali wordplay Freestyle
Fellowship-y type nigga in the 90s and we'd barely know
who he is. Like, is Earl even as good as someone like
Chino XL, who most non-Cali niggas barely know? Nope.

A cat like Smooth The Hustla would EASILY be the best
nigga out now. Like, BY FAR. He was a niche rapper with
a short career in the 90s

Its all RELATIVE.

Relative to the rappers today, Tyler is top Notch.

I mean, I just listened to Nas' Street's Disciple the

This is probably true, but to be honest I'm only 21, I didn't grow up listening to all of that great hip hop music, I discovered it later, just because the quality of the era has changed doesn't mean I have to alter my criteria of how I judge rap music in general, in my opinion at least

But sonically, this really is quite a monster of an album.

Like, the courage, the direction, the arrangements, the
sophistication.

He is by far the worst thing on this album, and his lyrics
are great for the most part. That's saying a lot.

but it doesn't fit, at least where it is, and takes away from the album when it comes on (you go from this great vulnerable song "awkward" , then this song, and then back to another introspective song about his Dad "Answer", should have just let those two be next to each other)

It should have been near the end (where TrashWang is, which works at the end), or as a Bonus Track.

The video is hilarious and would be a fun song to listen to at a concert though.

This is exactly what I was expecting and wanted from Wolf, since right after Goblin dropped.

Dude got really focused and made a cohesive album with songs that flow into each other, a cool story that doesn't take away to much from the album.

The production got SO much better, does anyone notice how much better his drums have gotten? I didn't use to mind his self programmed drums that he used to do like on Seven and VCR and his old stuff, but it was about time he grew out of it cause the chord progressions he's using with the drum loops is just sick.

so many good moments, I'll have to make a longer post later.

He obviously wears his influences on his sleeve and the product sounds exactly what it should...a kid who listened to this music his whole life spitting it back out. I don't remember the last time I disliked a rapper's mic persona so much. His constant reminder that he's better than you because he doesn't smoke weed is grating and some of the drums are horrendous. He obviously has talent but I find myself not rooting for him and not wanting to listen to him. Treehome was dope but others have done the same better.
