"New Prince joint (Breakfast Can Wait)...Fire? Yep"
Wed Feb-06-13 10:51 AM by MISTA MONOTONE

OK...Now this dude has been peaking my interest...like for real...I think Doc Claw nailed it with a comment on FB...It looks like dude has been pulling his energy from his 1979 era....

And he's finally back to understanding the power of the Internet as he has made 4 tracks available for 88 cents each (http://3rdeyegirl.com/)...The site crashed (good sign)...U got rock sites and Howard Stern praising "Screwdriver"...he flips that boring ass "RNR Love Affiar" into some "Just As Long As We're Together" shit and injects it with some platform shoe Prince era funk...

Now this 'Breakfast'? Keep it up Mr. Nelson...With the news dude will be at that huge Carnegie Hall Prince Tribute (Wendy, Lisa, D'Angelo, Eric Leeds, Elvis Costello, Living Colour and more????), I'm saying...Yeah...

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xxamxi_prince-breakfast-can-wait_music?start=2

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

It's a great way to hide that TROLL steez...Let Maxx have his moment in the sun...

Prince is the last one standing...Everyone else that Maxx posts about has either left this earth, is playing local fairs, or is still trying to repair their career after scandal...

It's all good...Maxx, has to find something to smile about...Bashing Prince makes him feel good about himself...lol...If it produces some decent comedic jabs, let him eat his candy...

The dude really is unstable.

I mean its 2013 and he calls people "jive turkey". And he's serious.

He replies to EVERY Prince post, yet he says he hates him.

He says the same things about Prince OVER & OVER as if its all new.

And he doesn't even give thought to the fact that no matter what he says....people aren't going to change their like or dislike based off of his opinion.

Prince will probably make half a million dollars NET by the end of the week from these downloads he has made available, and Maxx goes on and on about how he's so washed up.

Delusional, Narcissistic and stuck in the 70's.

Dude really is cray.

I agree with maxxx that this song is "meh," though I understand why it would be a bit exciting for some other people, based on the fact that at least it is a step up from a lot of stuff Prince has put out lately. But then, that is kinda damning with faint praise.

Maxx's opinion is not truth. It's his opinion.

He's totally entitled to his opinion and he hates Prince. Many of us already know that. We got it. That's cool.

But, the kiddie like rants and commentary on it all using extinct 70's slang and repeating it all over and over again gets tired, no matter what his opinion is.

Trolling for attention and posting in EVERY Prince related post even though he claims he hates him seem unstable and a little crazy.

the narrative of maxxx being a former fan is much more compelling than the basic hater you guys are trying to portray him as. see http://members.tripod.com/~mistermaxxx/prince.html

Maybe I see a bit of myself in maxxx... people claiming that maxxx "hates" Prince reminds me of those who try to reduce my criticism of D'Angelo to simple "hate."

D'Angelo has made two albums, KAP...dude doesn't have the good will or catalogue to make you out to be some mindless hater...Sure, there are some folks on the Lesson that have went that way with u...But the truth is D has A LOT TO PROVE...

On the flipside, you are taking up for a cat (Maxx) that has said El DeBarge is better than Prince...Now I dig me some El DeBarge...But you get where I'm going with this...Dude has NO credibility when it comes to Prince...

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

No...it's become a stale narrative...Because it gives him a shield to say bullshit...

I don't mind someone saying they hate Prince...or his music...Sometimes I feel the same way...

The problem comes when it turns into an over-the-top caricature...This has been going on for more than a decade...lol

When Maxx goes after the racial double standards that exist in the music biz, HE IS USUALLY ON FIRE...I'm down with that...

But his Prince obsessions have become cheap and kind of lazy...So cheap that it turns into Maxx shitting on Prince's guitar playing in the Super Bowl while in pouring rain...lol

Like dude is beyond Hate Mode...Ha!

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

Yeah I like Maxxx too, I don't agree with most of his pt of views on music and I don't like the fact that he has to defend his champions by crushing other artists that he thinks are threats when really they're not ... But he definitely brings something to the discussion.

it's not a classic, but it does affirm my long held suspicion
that prince can release good songs any time he feels like it.

whether or not the song is great is debatable
but it is good.

i hope something awesome comes out of all of this.
i'm getting older now and at this point
i dislike new music so much that i'll check for a
second tier prince album vs whatever is playing on top 40.

sad, i know
but here we are.

besides, most of my favorite legends are dead.
i'm happy for prince.

just YouTubed it.
it's not bad, but it sounds like "one of those europop songs that i've heard
for the past 4 years."

i realize they are all different songs,
but it all sounds like the 2...
one of them is the fast one i hear at the gym before i put on my headphones.

that new katy perry song i just heard is the ballad that i hear
when i get into a young woman's car.

my opinion of the matter is completely uninformed,
but i don't have the desire to correct myself.

honestly, the only 2 songs I've heard i the last
4 years that i absolutely adored were "Gangam Style"
and "all gold everything"

there have been a few new songs/ artists that
I liked, but i didn't go out of my way to hear them.

i enjoyed lady gaga when she did the album with poker face
the follow-up album was okay, i guess.

i also like that Rihanna "diamonds" song.

kanye has released a few tracks i like since MBDTF.
i heard them at the barber shop.

i think i like 2 chains, but for the songs that i like
I'm not even sure if that's him. I didn't care enough to make it a point to ask.

it's not the music. it's me.
I know this because when beyonce did the Super Bowl show,
I only found myself enjoying the songs that came out before 2004.
the rest of it was good enough, but not for me.

i'm good on the new stuff, I think.
I have been for a while.

he gets a pass for life from me for "unthinkable" though.
that's one of the best songs i've ever heard.

he sang backup on that, and he may have co-wrote it/ produced it.
i don't remember.

i dig new artists if they make great songs
that sound like old songs.

"Unthinkable" is a great song that sounds like an old song.
John Mayer's new album sounds like old songs.
Patrick Stump's album sound like old songs.

but back to drake, his rap doesn't have drums
and his r&b records just sound lame.

not gritty enough to be soul,
not pretty enough to be beautiful,
too many records about being a simp... but not in a gorgeous, naive,
over the top way like the stylistics. more like a desperate
dude with a mediocre voice begging for affection.

not cool. lol

It's enjoyable but not edifying, he reminds me of that british cat Daley in that regard. Plus he sounds anonymous on the EDM song "Where were you". Still, it's just a mixtape, so he might be more defined on an album. Good link to stumble upon though.

what Prince was doing on The Rainbow Children, which I think was his last "great" album, but ... I dunno, less esoteric

WTF was up with Alvin coming in toward the end though

all in all, I like.

out of the stuff that the 3rdEyeGirl site had, I really am digging the remix to "Rock N Roll Affair". I think Prince knew he had some bullshit and needed to dress it up.

The same guy whose songs Camille used to show up on regularly? I'm not understanding how this is
even halfway noteworthy.

I turned Screwdriver off about 1/2 way through

This wasn't bad - I might actually check for the album when it drops - but it didn't exactly stop me in my tracks, lol

Sometimes I think it would be better if dude took a few years off - no touring, no recordings - get a clean slate...

dude ain't fallen so far that i'm getting overly excited about this

it's fine but there have been a good number of tracks the last 10 years = to or > than this... reminds my of some of the unreleased stuff 8-9 years back... stuff like 'Underneath the Cream'.. which is better than this imo

that said I'll give him 88 cents for this... now if it was 99 I'd have to think on it

I don't know if it's so much being excited than more than dude finally understanding how to get his music out to the fans in a smart, timely way...And that music (on both of the sides coin) being good...

For me (personally) I dig the fact that his rock shit AND his R&B shit sounds tight AT THE SAME TIME...lol

Usually, with dude over the last few years, you don't really know what you are going to get when it comes to those two genres...It's as if he hasn't been able to walk and chew gum at the same time...

The new tracks, the all-chick band, and the other new YOUNG drummer he recruited and the clips I heard from those Minnesota shows make me feel hopeful more than anything else...

than what he's been doing the past x amount of years, other than this track being 'good'
what are you expecting to come out of this? a rock album and an r&b album? and you expect those to be up to what level of quality?

the whole two bands makes no sense to me. songs about rock and roll he's done time and time again, i just can't get excited for it. this new one reminds me of a song on rave.

for me this is all him building up once again to say i still got it when the results will only remind you that he once had 'it' and well at least he can still do something decent. but in my mind it would work so much better if he completely backed out of making himself the focal point or trying to get himself back on top. maybe i missed out by not hearing that aloo fem he was working with in full but the first single did nothing for me. if he had produced this for another artist i think it could have made a bigger statement. i don't know how big, but it's a cool song that could be catchy to people other than those hoping for prince to come back if another artist were attached to it.

prince has always had two or more "bands"

I have to disagree with you because when I first heard the remix of rock n roll love affair, I thought it was very hot and that should have been the single that got released in the first place.

see how these boring bland 2nd and 3rd tier b sides at best hold up? funny how dr dre's gets called out for his ghosts, but purple ghosts are truly mia at what prince keeps putting out.

yesterday was national pancake day and this was flat and mushy like the rest of that batch he is putting out.

you better get this for free and take your 88 cents to burger king or mcdonalds and a smile

Nah...I like what he's doing RIGHT NOW...

Slow down with the albums....Release singles for download, straight to the fans...Knock out some surprise shows...and keep the music lose and free (that's the underlining improvement I've been seeing...This is Prince doing what comes naturally...No bells and whistles or silly concepts...)

It's funny, because Prince even knows when he's doing some bullshit (dude was quick to release a dope remix to that LAME ass Rock N Roll Love affair...Dude knew that was some bullshit...)

There's some interesting things going on with the 3rd Eye Girl rock spin-off (those girls can cook...Prince can still pick talent...I def. want to see them jam with Prince)...

And to be frank, Prince is once again coming back to get what he deserves, from the Billboard Award tribute, the Carnegie Hall tribute, his Grammy appearance and his rumored appearance on shows like Jimmy Fallon in the near future...

Basically, I'm not mad at dude at the moment if he continues to keep is short and simple...

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

its all about paying respect to his 80's hey day. not his ok 70's era, his weak 90's era or his forgettable 00's era. folks want those memorys when that turkey counted.

him doing Fallon and Kimmel excuse me but the King of R&B done did that a few times and turned both them places out.

deep down Prince just stays copying other acts. nothing new there.

he can't sell no albums so of course he going to put songs for 88 cents.

nobody buys his wack modern albums and no record company in there right mind would dare waste a cent on his weak new songs.

unless its his best stuff from back in the day, then ain't nobody sweating his stuff.

and even before that.... wasn't write me back outtakes from Love letters...

your boy been fallin off..

Prince still doing his thing.... and selling out arenas all over the world still....

and he does it live...no memorex...

Prince is a hall of fame artist who reached levels very few artists have reached...and will be rememered as such..

R.Kelly will be remembered as a talented guy with some great records...his share of corny stuff....a knock of from the new jack swing era who was hit or miss and capitalized off of a watered down, narrowed down mainstream R&B era.

R.Kelly ran two decades of hits and classic albums.

hit with his stuff, veteren acts and unknown acts. R.Kelly is about the only person who could bring Prince a new hit.

Kellz ain't never fell off. you got it twisted Homie, Prince been trying to comeback since the "diamonds and pearls" era.

turkey fell off so badly he gave himself a name of a symbol.

ARRUH doing trapped in the closet on a indy movie channel and getting paid.

about to play Africa in a month and turn it out.

go to the Hood and take a vote out of ARRUH and Prince and see who wins Playa?

Kellz got better albums, better songs better singer and more versatile.

prince ain't changed in 20 plus years.

Arruh packs out places and tours and does quite well,

Prince is predictable corny on stage these days,

Love letter>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Better than any Prince album from the 90's til now.

notice I ain't even say a thing about 12 play, self title album t2.com, chocolate factory, happy people.

write me back is versatile and soulful and Prince would give up his Willis Drummond wig for what ARRUH gots.

Prince ain't counted man since you had your learners permit.

Kellz been holding it down since we had our first pager.

To be fair, R ruled the 90's. Very consistent and he still puts out to this day. I will not knock his hustle either. I wont pit artist against artist. They are both different and both have songs that resonated with me at certain points in my life. Hell , back and forth by Aaliyah, Stroke you up by changing faces, Fortunate by Maxwell, and you are not alone by Mike are great produced songs...

I believe that neither R nor Prince have peers that can push tehm. I would love to see more competition in music that would make them want to go into the lab and keep creating great stuff..

years again? and Saadiq is a never was a solo artist. the man can play and is a good producer and arranger, however them waffle thin vocals and his jacking and lounging of past R&B melodys,etc.. nobody is checking for him, he needs to get back with the tonys or just be a music director for the tonys and leave the solo career alone.

R.Kelly done wrote every type of R&B song period.

Prince is a limited writer and a corny lyricist and folks ain't feeling that turkey, lets be real Kellz went a whole decade more than Prince period. Prince is stuck in the 80's period.

nobody wants to hear that turkey doing that Lawrence welk lite attempts at lounge room jazz and 3rd tier rock cut rejects which are just aim and no fire.

Arruh can go back, and present himself in the modern and not miss a beat.

Three things....

1. Kells' legacy is secure...His 90's run within R&B tops everyone besides Mary J. Blige...They are the king and queen of their time...Plus dude made the best traditional R&B album of his era...Hell, he made two of them...Immense talent...IMMENSE...

2. Prince is Prince...No need to get into it...

3. Kells is finding out just like everyone that the new generation moves on...His last few records have not sold well...And that latest Trapped In the Closet did nothing...

He better go hard on the touring tip...Because that's the direction he has to go now...

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

FOH...lol...Mary is icon status...And Kells is the best R&B male act of his generation...Dude's dope moments overshadow his lame moments...Don't take anyone seriously who says he didn't put in the work, Maxx...Be secure in your dude....

But his sales are not "cool" Maxx...He's bricking...

But you know what? who cares? That shit happens to everyone...

Like I said...Kelly better get his touring game together....Because that's gonna be a bread and butter from here on out...

I know sometimes we caught up in that Lesson bubble with the pissing contests that go on....

But the truth is Prince is larger than life...This dude comes onstage with a hoodie, black Miles Davis shades, and a pimp cane and niggas in the audience (filled with celebrities) lose their minds...Dude gives Gotye his Record of the Year and all dude could talk about was being nervous being onstage with Prince...

Let's cut the bullshit...lol...Prince is on some other shit...These tweets (below) prove all this shit...This nigga rides unicorns...He's in another league folks...The POPE line below is the funniest one, though...

I just wrote a post the other day of "why I roll with Prince".. Now, every award show where he presented and someone won, think Halle at NAaP, think, the winner (names escapes me from the Oscars several years ago who bowed to Prince when he received the award from him to the folks last night); reverence is what comes to mind...He was the coolest, most talented cat in the bldg without even trying He knew, and the audience knew it..

But yet, somehow, there are some who say he is dead. The Prince business is a good business to be in. If he is the definition of a dead career after 35 years in business, then everyone should want his dead career.
