Yes, it seemed like they could have kept going and being one of the long-running groups of all time. And yes they basically bowed out at their commercial (if not artistic) peak. However... they still had a run that hasn't been beaten by any artist, solo or group. It may have been equaled by a very few, but not beaten, as far as I'm concerned.

i got Outkast in the top 5 groups argument/debate with those groups however RUn DMC, Public Enemy and NWA made ground breaking albums that defined a time period i can't say that Outkast made that kind of album as much as they made songs.

i would say that kast did for the south what nwa did for the west.

and in doing so, they've had more lasting influence on hip-hop than public enemy.

no one can take away from the impact that run-dmc made.

that said, both dre and big boi are easily better skilled emcees than anyone in those groups - with the possible exception of ice cube.

At this point, he needs to just come out and say, "OutKast is done." All this other sideshow mess is just prolonging an illusion that by now everybody should see right through. Big's guilty of it too, but probably because he really believes that Kast might return somehow, and Dre enables him by not just being honest about it.

andre broke his no rap verses drought by doing a random ass remix for dj unk, and then entirely separately big boi insinuated himself into it by putting his own verse on it. "i hope this reunion is the one. if not, you are the prototype."

I mean stop blocking Big Boi from being on song just b/c you don't wanna take the shine away from the 3 or 4 verses you do a year. You don't want to do another Outkast album, fine. But when you go out of your way to stop anything that comes close to new Outkast it just seems bitter or at least resentful.

To me Dre is just weird, b/c it's obvious that they're still friends (Maybe not as good as they were). It just seems as far as being seen or heard together in public he's against it. I don't think Big Boi still wanting to work with him is a desperate thing, it's knowing they make magic and that fans really want to hear it. Dre seems to not give a shit and his lack of solo output is proof of that.

and nah, all these people asked Andre & had Andre on a song in its initial run only to have Big hop on it later without Dre knowing it or giving his approval.

That's 'weirder' than anything Andre can be accused of doing.

Even Sir Lucious didn't sell that well, but both his albums were received well critically (The debut being on almost every top 10 album list and and he'll be at pretty much every music festival this summer. Might not be everyone's cup of tea but as far as rappers this far into the game he's doing well above average.

...was what Big Boi had said they both had discussed way before there was a remix of that joint. Big Boi admitted that originally it was supposed to be the both of them on the song but Dre had discussed that he didn't want a new OutKast anything on anyone else's project. Instead, he would rather give the fans a whole new album if they were to do an OutKast project. Big Boi admitted that he agreed to it. I'm more shocked that he decided to jump on the remix. Hell, for all we know, he could've been under the impression that only he would be on the remix (as a guest) and that Frank wouldn't have included the Dre verse.
