>I like the sound of your line, very crisp, simple but nice. > >Dont really hear a big diff. between the trap interpretation >and the boom bap one tho... > > As far as the way I laid out the chops, I wanted to create a line that also had a bass interplay. And, it "may" sound simple, but it really isn't. To me, that's the genius of it. I chopped the section I chose into hella pieces and then found bits that melodically fit together while creating a bass line that also worked, using just the samples before me. I added nothing but drums.
My challenge (for anyone considering it simple) would be for them to recreate it.
As far as the difference between the trap and boom bap interpretations, it's just primarily the drums. But, I did add another chop into the second melodic line to give it more forward movement. If you listen to the two open lines that I left in the song for each section (before the drums come in), you should hear it. Subtle, but impactful at the same time, IMHO.
I didn't want to "chop n screw" or slur the line in the trap version because I kinda wanted to show how "almost" the same sample chop can be given new life with choice of drums.
Also, I did eq the sample a bit to bring out a particular sonic element that I felt needed to be emphasized after I laid out the line.
Enough technical talk, though. Appreciate you listening to it and one last thing: Are there any rules to these kind of challenges? I know over on the ST boards they only allow outside bass most of the times.
Thanks again. Come to grips with the fact that most OKP's are of the Nut Hugger lineage, so, if you' re not part of the little cliques that exist 'round here, your posts will probably tank like Souljaboy's album sales.
