Can You Handle It - Graham Central Station
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ck4AlFfu5pM#t=1m15s

Why? I think the Sylvers song is better as a walkout, but the Larry Graham bass jams - and I linked to a Soul Train clip.

(I wish Nico's Chelsea Girls was as upbeats as OMD's Tesla Girls.)

Chelsea Handler
"Tubthumping" - Chumbawumba
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2H5uWRjFsGc

Slight lyrical change to "She drinks a whisky drink/she drinks a vodka drink/she drinks a lager drink/she drinks a cider drink" as a reference to her hard drinking past.

Charlie Cox:
"Empire" - Queensryche
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSTct2FFamw

(since he's on Boardwalk Empire)

Charlie Cox

REASON: Charlie can be "Chuck", so welcome out "Chuck Baby" to Fallon.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhYAUD1sm28

Why? Theme to Gidget. Her first big role, and a surprisingly good show. (Think Dobie Gillis but with a cute girl. http://i.huffpost.com/gen/856532/thumbs/o-SALLY-FIELD-GIDGET-570.jpg?4)

Sally Field
Jennifer Warnes' "It Goes Like It Goes"
http://open.spotify.com/track/6YrJhtZb6oRJZAduHE5FOa
REASON: This is the theme to NORMA RAE, and as a child of basic cable, this is the one movie I remember watching a lot:

"It goes like it goes like the river flows
and time keeps rollin' on
and maybe what's good gets a little bit better
and maybe what's bad gets gone"

Finesse Mitchell
Finesse & Synquis' "Bass Game"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxkJE3uLYB0
REASON: His name is Finesse, and I had two options and decided on this one. From the UPTOWN'S KICKIN' IT album.

ALTERNATIVE PICK:
Lord Finesse's "Return Of The Funky Man"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCjUvvXHXVw
REASON: Because mad brother's know his name.

Elon Musk
Messiah's "The Future Is Ours"
http://open.spotify.com/track/5GS4dol9S02nXKbFPk1W86
REASON: Musk is about making challenges now with business and commerce for what will affect the future. Messiah created one of my favorite albums of the 90's, and while it's just some brutal techno with loads of samples, I think it's different enough that people will go "what the hell did they just play?"

Chris Tucker
Loggins & Messina's "Danny's Song"
http://open.spotify.com/track/5mnvqisoDJilY0uCEdT8rG
REASON: Tucker plays Danny in his new film, "The Silver Linings Playbook", so I picked this song from L&M's debut album.

Kellan Lutz
Howlin' Wolf's "Killin' Floor"
REASON: His name is Kellan, thus name association.

Jonathan Becker
Mr. Bungle's "Vanity Fair"
REASON: He has a book about his 30 years at Vanity Fair, so... this must be done. Mike Patton represent, and would love to hear Kirk sing this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaL-IqGW9Y4

Why? Change it to Just One Click is all it took to buy, buy, buy. (Hey - technically it's not my job to think of GOOD suggestions.) (Amazon owns the patent for "1-Click" buying.)

Katie Holmes
Bob Dylan's The Band's "Katie Been Gone"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YH2xxoyITvM
REASON: Absolutely no snark. Since she has been on before, it's a way to say "where you been Katie? Come back", and she'll walk to sit and have an interview.

Jeff Bezos
Perry Como's "Seattle"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTkDE_AkZ5Y
REASON: While Bezos is from New Mexico, Amazon is based in Seattle. While Seattle is known for everyone from Hendrix to Heart, Sir Mix-A-Lot to Soundgarden, Reggie Watts (him and I could've been classmates at the Art Institute of Seattle had I moved my ass back then) to Jake One, there is still a dorky side that is represented in the city's sarcasm.

The song was written by Hugo Montenegro, Ernie Sheldon and Jack Keller for a TV show in the late 60's, and Como had the hit with it.

One, the surviving members of the Monkees are currently on tour and have pulled this out and do a bit with Mike pretending to be the Moog.

And the all important TWO: Nesmith got Monkee faithfuls all in a tizzy by stating he wanted Jimmy Fallon to replace Davy on "Daydream Believer" on tour. His orig post, swipe'd below:
___
"“Mick and I are heavy into rehearsals and hanging out – and I have started privately nourishing this idea that – in New York and LA at least – I think Jimmy Fallon should come do Daydream Believer with us.

First, he is a good singer and musician. And second, he seems pretty easy going. And finally, and perhaps most importantly, he is the only person I think that could actually do the Davy dance with the proper gravitas and respect it deserves.

(Lord knows Axel Rose did his best – and it may be that Axel has even won the name wars for the dance – but to me it is, and always will be, the Davy dance and not the Axel Rose dance.)

In any case — I think Fallon could do it great, sing the song great, and I am thinking seriously about inviting him to come and do it with us – just a couple of nights. I am giving it a lot of careful thought.

Careful, non-linear-wacked-out, goofy thought.

So far I haven’t got this past Mick and Pete – I actually haven’t even asked them – but I am drifting that way because of Emmy Blotnick who has now (unwittingly)re-enforced the notion that Fallon could do it great – “birds of a feather” is more than enough validation for me. That’s the best I can explain it: Blotnick sandwich = Jimmy Fallon sings Daydream Believer and delivers his version of the Davy dance.

So, Mick and Pete and I have the show covered, it will be fun and satisfying to the hardest core Monkees fan –but –

There is this one last thing we absolutely have to work out and get right — who will sing Daydream Believer?

I’m starting with Jimmy Fallon – and if he won’t do it — then I’ll just let the non-linear world take over and see where the ball lands next.

It may land in the town we’re coming to."

The kick off show for the mini-tour.

Mike did in fact make whacky Moog like noises.

And Mickey confirms that he did in fact sell his Moog to Bobby Sherman.

(That's why I'm on a Momkees kick this week. If Russel Brand was on he'd have gotten Randy Scouse Git (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mulrm0wFADE) from me.)

Helen Mirren
Cheap Trick's "She's Tight"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADWG6EXrbcE
REASON: Sexy song for a sexy lady, suggestive but not explicit.

ALTERNATE CHOICE
Hot Chocolate's "Sexy Lady"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLUA8t6t74U
REASON: Same as above.

Carson Daly
Charlie Dore's "Pilot Of The Airwaves"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmu7lkIPMCM
REASON: He became known for TOTAL REQUEST LIVE. I used to hate him because back then, I felt he was responsible for "the ruin" of what MTV used to represent. Hated TRL, no more YO!, blah blah. When he started doing LAST CALL, I watched and really liked what he did there. Also learned that it was more about what he really was about, and the kind of show that I would love to host, where it's a bit of anything and everything. So, I'll go for this one.
