Gerard Butler Wu-Tang Clan's "Wu-Tang: 7th Chamber REASON: Butler appears in CHASING MAVERICKS, and thus I refer to the line: :Suspenseful, plus bein bought through my utensil The pencil, I break strong winds up against your Abbot, that run up through your county like the Maverick Caps through the tablets, I gots to make the fabrics"
Plus, with the Wu-Tang Clan on the show, I'm assuming The RZA will be there and if so, maybe you can persuade him to drop a guest line.
ALTERNATE CHOICE: Honk's "Pipeline Sequence" http://youtu.be/JQ8QWqbsAy8 REASON: I suggested this song before for another actor that was on for a surf-related movie. As someone who grew up not only on an island, but with a good share of surf movies, I have my favorite surf movies, similar to when someone tries to say what their favorite hip-hop album is or baseball jersey for certain teams. FIVE SUMMER STORIES is regarded as one of the best stoner movies of all time, so it's simply one way of honoring a new surf movie with a song from an old surf movie. When this song would play in the film, people in the theater would stand up and cheer.
Anyway, focus on the part of the song the begins at the 1:02 mark, from the hard "saxophone/guitar riff" to the part that gets funky and mellow. In Hawai'i and parts of California, this part of the song will give people chicken skin/goose bumps.
(SIDENOTE: The drummer for this band was Tris Imboden, who would later replace Danny Seraphine in Chicago. He played with loads of yacht rock artists and bands, but there's a dedicated fanbase for the work he did with Honk, who only released two albums before calling it quits.)
Madeleine Stowe Sergei Tarnowsky's "Balakirev Polka in F# Minor" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-G2nqSzqAKE REASON: She wanted to be a concert pianist, and her teacher was Sergei Tarnowsky. There's no information on what songs she learned from him, but he did perform this song on 1972 so maybe there may be a connection.
ALTERNATE CHOICE: Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" REASON: Since she'll most likely be there to promote REVENGE, I focus on the last four lines of the song: "Nobody wants him They just turn their heads Nobody helps him Now (s)he has his revenge"
I state (s)he has his revenge, since the main character is seeking revenge for the death of her father but Stowe's character fits in with the whole situation.
