Dude has never been that nice, some of you swear he's the best to ever do it. Operation Doomsday was decent and his KMD stuff was ok, but beyond that? Dude's boring as hell...his flow is so off its incredible, and im sure it's on purpose to be the villain and be different but fuck that. Shit is about as good as those "DILLA CHANGED MY LIFE" shirts worn by all sorts of hipster white cornballs...

...anyone who doesn't recognize the genius of Doom, just does not know Hip Hop...IMO of course....the beats used/chosen by him, the slick wordplay, off kilter flow, the references to pop and not so pop culture, the voice, the persona, creativity....duke is a monster all around. Maybe not on the same topic, but kinda related, to me, it's impossible to even have a conversation about Hip Hop with someone under 35....

I would say that 28 is more accurate for the statement you were going for BUT I would never make it definitive because there are some younger cats that know their shit. They're just hard to find.
If someone grew up on hip-hop, I would say from 97-98 then their opinions will be drastically different and it goes downhill from there the younger they are.
I started listening in 92 and was heavy by 93-94 and I think the main difference is that my age group still had respect for those that came before and really studied and understood the importance where as kids today don't give a fuck about history. They will write off Rakim as "wack" and in the same breath tell you how dope 2 Chainz is.

The last thing I liked from him had the KMD name on it. Chorus was something like "I saw the thunder and heard the lightning". Shit was supposed to be the first single for Black Bastids LP and had Grimm on it. Ever since then his brother got killed and he slipped into this state of depression called Doom and I aint been feeling it. Wack production, terrible loops, off beat rhymes and a gimmick. I'm seriously scratching my head on this because folks is eating this shit up. Couple that with the bullshit antics of different men behind the mask and it's insulting to this artform.

He's been contributing quality hip hop at a high level for over 25 yrs. I don't expect shit from Wu Tang, LL Cool J, or Snoop Dogg or any others from that era that still churn out albums 20 yrs later...... But I do respects the gods...

Nas is my favorite rapper as well. I would expect someone that disses DOOM so hard to have no taste. And while they are different, I would expect someone that appreciates Nas' flow and NY sensibility to get DOOM also. I don't know man, dude is mad clever, inventive, witty, creative and independent. And lets not forget WEIRD! Remember when Hip-Hop was weird? DOOM is one of the few that is eccentric and also has real bite and content as well. He is simultaneously braggadocios, yet also self-depricating, which is another lost trait of rap. He's original. Way more interesting than 99% of rappers imo. DOOM is probably the best rapper of the 2000's in terms of being prolific and consistent. And as far as his monotone flow, I think that's a part of the content of his work/delivery etc. much in the same way Prodigy's was. DOOM mastered that imo. One could say they don't like it, but its very deliberate, and the way he rhymes like that exudes his sardonicism. He's a great artist.

ehh, Nas my fav rapper and I don't really feel Doom. I don't hate him by any stretch but get bored by his albums and rarely play them. He's original which is really cool, especially with the lack of originality by most artists, just never grew on me tho.
