Im hopin we can get that culture up and runnin again, and not in no BUY-BEATS@ way - this should be the place for us to grow thru exchangin props and critique with fellow producers, battle it out and discuss beats and technique in general.
Afterall, there is an actual Make The Music forum, right below The Lesson, so in order for us to keep doinŽ these in here, we really needs to take part in the rest of the threads Žrounds here, earn our place!
Also, feedback on eachothers entries is essential really, otherwise this would just be hear-ME-out status, urbody shoutin to get the attention and nobody gettin proper love OR hate...

thanks for the feedback. when i listen to your latest track and the last beat, i get like a 90's boom bap vibe. That's good. if there is one critique i would make on your track, to me it seems like the snare that you used was a nice snare, but I think a lighter snare that wasn't as loud or didn't hit as hard would have worked more with the soulfulness of your track. overall, the beat is dope.
I like the you threw fire track better than the unfinished business one. it just seems like the chops were better, you had the filtered bassline. what i do like about the first entry was when you brought in the synths, it filled the beat out a little more and gave it a different feel. you brought in some cool sounds near the end of the you threw fire too. good stuff.
Switchin up the themes/genre of the originals would def. add to variation and challenge.
Altho I DO believe we should keep ONE main source for each thread - cats cant help but add layers and layers of extras anyways haha...
One of the essential ideas, to me at least, is to see how others would create somethin completely diff. from mine, get inspired, learn from it.

My whole thing with sample sources is it's not so much if its a soul sample or not, its the ear of the listener. What I mean is, if I choose a beat to sample, I'm selecting it because I personally hear something in it that I want to sample. For example, Break Ups To Make Ups was a challenge for me because it's a great song that is familiar to me so I didn't want to just do it without being creative and doing something different with it. With songs from different genres that we may or may not have heard before, as a producer we know we're on unchartered territory, if that makes any sense. There's nothin like when you personally discover a new sample, and you are inspired to flip it. So maybe we can move on to having the various contributors to this post offering up samples they want to flip, and seeing what others can do for it. Unless it's just a free for all where we just post our beats, it's always gonna be here's what i'm feelin right now, i know i got somethin for it, so the challenge is can you make somethin dope when the sample to flip was not your own idea.
