thom + Ae as rumored in 2000-1 and rejected by Ae shortly after, answering a question i posed to them in a warp web site Q&A... the positive spin on that would be thom is working with younger, more current talent

i think a flylo autechre remix ep would be the most interesting. i remember when stevie e was first getting big and dropping mixes everywhere and he included second scout (or was it second peng?) on one of them and i thought that was very cool. i'd like to hear his "maximalist" approach applied to some of the more straightforward autechre tracks, like the aforementioned. it wouldn't make much sense but it would be neat

i can't think of it offhand. i'd like to hear any kind of collaboration or remix, because why not, but for some reason i just can't picture him as a fan even though they're on the same label and they're someone he "should" like arguably, even as the GOAT.

not at all. i'm sure if i listen to "LA" again i'd hear something (or convince myself that i'm hearing something) similar. a reach would be the textures of "gantz graf" and "LA"

'LA' is mad IDM-y to me, so if it were ever audible it would probably be there, but like you said it might just be a reach.

Of course, I guess it puts him in the same category as Bowie and Eno and I like those dudes but still, it's a really lame way to keep current and exciting in theory...

You pull up a finger in the air and feel "Oh, this new musician/style/whatever is exciting and I want to work with him" and by doing that shit year after year, they can remain relevant. Meanwhile, the artists they leech upon will vainly try to update their distinctive formulas and generally fall by the wayside.

Best believe that when FlyLo is played out and yesterdays news, Yorke will be "Oh, this "assorted beats" genre is really exciting. I want to try that out" and people will go "Dude is still exciting and on the cutting edge"...

So fucking cheap...

I even mentioned Bowie and Eno-two artists I genuinely like (LOvE in the case of Bowie) as opposed to Yorke's miserable whinyness and who both obviously added a SHITLOAD of their own identity-as examples of the same method. Doesn't mean that this method of building a legend isn't on a theoretical level somewhat lame and not really worthy of the same amount of respect that artists who actually create something from "scratch" as opposed to leaching on others deserve...

Also, was what I said wrong? Did the artists/producers they (add Bjork as well-she might be the textbook example) leech upon get the same amount of respect/notability? Are they in the grand scheme of thing nothing but roadkill left along the road of building the legend of the leeching "geniuses"? Sadly, I think they are...

I'm still waiting for a Kanye + Bjork or Kanye + Thom collaboration. This needs to happen.

look what happened... music wasn't so hot, and she had to make it hot (check the credits for 2 out of the 3 collaborations). that's with someone who talked to her for 10 years about working with her, sampled "joga," and all that. i still want to hear the wu shit, but i read that even rza farmed her out a bit to some other... you know what, let me copy and paste, because i keep records like that: rza recorded "3 w/ bjork (with, what she called "wu-people".. I think timbo king was one of them).." sessions recounted here: http://web.archive.org/web/20040906165728/http://www.bjork.com/facts/about/right.php?id=514 apparently the "rza remix" of "bachelorette" was produced by 4th disciple or true master instead. anyway, this is off-topic. back under a rock i crawl.

becuse to me it seemed like it would be like an even more esoteric/electronic version of what Radiohead had been doing around that time.

If I thought 'Hail To The Thief' was 'eh' at best am I missing anything on that?

The collabo doesn't really affect my anticipation any (negatively or positively) and I'm a fan of Yorke/Radiohead.

All I know is it's new Lotus material and..........and that's all that matters.

Pretty much sums up my feelings. Strangely, I'm almost as excited about seeing the new artwork/packaging as I am hearing the actual music. Wow.
