Kanye's reputation was initially based on his productions and that is still how many people outside of pop-fans view him-as a rapping producer. Personally, I don't really like the types of beats he often use too much; it's stadium Hip-Hop to me-"emotionally resonant", lighters in the air type shit. Still, he has done some great beats as well...

Ye really isn't an "emcee" like that. He raps, but it's almost as a gimmick to me.

He's a producer first and foremost.

Better stage show? Kanye bounces from one point of the stage to the next with background dancers which comes off generic. Kool Moe Dee was actually involved in well rehearsed dance routines, mastered call and response chants studying Keith Cowboy and DJ Hollywood, and had crowds yelling GO MOE DEE, during break downs.

Relevance? Kanye is relevant but for a lot of the wrong reasons. The grammys, tabloid break ups (Kardashian sightings...yuck), name calling from the president, the list goes on... Part of Moe Dees relevance comes from reaching out to an older and more mature audience which helped get Hip Hop in places it never was able to get into. I feel as if Kanye is getting Hip Hop kicked out of places it once was once privileged to.

Collaborations? Kanye works with many artists. True? However, I am very skeptical of Kanye holding down an entire album by himself. Kool Moe Dee had supreme confidence in his skills by rocking four solo albums with no outside guest emcee appearances. The only artists I can think of who did that for at least four solos was Rakim.

------< First pitch hit deep left field just foul. The second pitch driven deep right field just foul. On the third pitch...like Pete Rock and CL Smooth he straightened it out. Deep center for a home run. - Stuart Scott
