"When did guide tracks live become acceptable in hip hop?"
Eminem a few years ago was the first I noticed using it, but now seems pretty common. With ppl claiming Jeezy is killin' it at Summer Jam tonight by rapping 40% of each line while the dj plays the actual record. Maybe some ppl it's about seeing the rapper live or just sharing the music with a whole bunch of ppl but I think it's wack as hell.

I paid money to hear your voice in person on the song. I think it's something Hip Hop got from Pop music (Janet, Britney, etc) except Pop had a reason. It was hard as hell to keep the note and do those elaborate dance routines.
But if you're on stage...you got a mic, you aren't dancing, DJ got a mic an depending on your show you got 2 of your boys and they got mics too??!?
Maaaaann...you better rap that damn shit. That's something I'll always hand to kats like DMX, OC, Black Thought, etc. no rapping over their own voice, no Hypeman, just them and the music.
One of the things that made me lose interest in watching Hip-Hop live:having the DJ or DAT or whatever playing the regular studio-version while the artist shout tunelessly on top of it. Not that everyone does it but it has happened a bit too many times...
