"did Usher have to live through Bieber to get TImberlake acceptance?"

think about this for a moment Usher is One of the last Artists to go Diamond and yet he got robbed at the award shows, and he also didn't get the kind of hype that Justin TImberlake got so i gotta ask was Justin Bieber his revenge at Pop Acceptance that he himself felt perhaps shorchanged on?

Does he have to? No. But from this point on, he's not going to be that washed up teen singer whose videos looked like outtakes from "Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nothin' Ta Fuck Wit". There will always be that Bieber connection, for better or worse.

Without jokes, Usher really didn't need it but post 1995, a lot of artists had to change their program on how they had to stay in the public eye. Usher has a decent voice, has made some good songs but has made total shit. But the total shit is what keeps him on the charts. Bieber keeps him in the public eye. Can Usher stands out on his own? I always thought he did and didn't need Timberlake's relevancy either. Usher is his own mand, don't go out thinking "oh, Timberlake is a white monarch, and I'm going to be the Black Timberlake." No, just be Usher. Usher does good as is.

Of course, creating real estate for yourself is beneficial for all involved. He knows what he's doing.

artistically Usher peaked with Confessions. But much like, say, Alanis Morrisette, Usher's name will forever be one that carries a certain degree of cache because of just how huge of an album that was. I mean it would take a disaster, but Alanis and Usher are the worst case scenario for Adele 12 years from now.

But I digress.

Up until about 3 years ago, Usher really had just kind of buried himself because he didn't put out any good music after Confessions. His label knew it too, having repackaged both his marketing campaigns and Usher himself a dozen times over. He bailed himself out first with a blatant pandering move, that being the deliberate switch to EDM/top 40, and then hit a grand slam with Bieber. The genius of the Bieber thing is that it opens up Usher's audience in a way that Gaga never did for Akon. Justin Bieber fans probably haven't even heard and never will hear "You Make Me Wanna" (so good), but they will check him consistently from here on out so long as Bieber keeps making music.

than Bieber. Im also not convinced Bieber will be able to transition into an "adult" act the way Usher and Timberlake did.

He'll have an awkward "transitioning into a real artist" phase like Timberlake did when NSync dropped "Gone" and he's tawmbout "man I grew up on Al Green and Marvin Gaye" but, also like Timberlake, if the music matures and gets better he should be straight
