Midwest was a classic album IMO once they put out the NO DJ version, but Miseducation was a great introduction. I think his older stuff, mainly the Live from Gary series, is really worth it too.

Im a bit confused why they didn't use this as his CTE debut. Not sure if there's anything on here I love as much as "Murda On My Mind" or "Ghetto" but, aside from that bullshit Wayne Blazed, this is uniformly excellent.

doesn't it make sense for all parties involved to just tag the shit completely, correctly, and organized from the get go so I don't have to OCD out for half an hour a day.

Where that one just sort of flirted with Gibbs as a pop artist, this one is about that more than half the time: make money, fuck bitches. To his great credit he's great at that, and I really enjoy that he went back to the sort of laid back sounds that felt so right with his shit on Midwestgangsta, but I just feel like his last two projects have felt so focused on being a specific thing (trap mixtape, "pop" mixtape) that you miss some of the dynamics Gibbs' earlier tapes provided.
Still not let down by him at all though, I'm the type that never expects him to match Midwest... because that album was an absolute classic. As long as he remains talented and picking dope beats, I'm just happy to have more.

To me, So Amazin' Pt. 2 and Anything to Survive are "pop" songs - compared to most of his earlier catalog, those are tracks that sound like radio format singles until you actually listen to the lyrics and realize they couldn't be released (at least, P.S.A. 2).
Cold Day in Hell was in a lot of ways his most trap-production oriented release and it took me the longest to get into it because of that (I much prefer him on the breezy Midwest... sound), but this album seems like it's playing at being the exact opposite of that. Tell a Friend, Go for It, Middle of the Night, MCH, The Diet and Every City are all mostly about Gibbs' sexual prowess which is a pretty big thematic change of pace since he generally doesn't spend more than a verse on it unless he's talking about rachet pussy (Neighborhood Hoez, Bussdown). Here about a third of the album is basically lady tracks, or songs to pump dudes up for lovin' their woman/jump off... to me, especially considering Gibbs' past work, that's pop territory in Gibbs' world.
I'm not and won't say it's a bad thing - I'd say it's about equal to Cold Day in Hell, a strong 3.5 - but it's definitely a little bit of a curve ball from Gangsta Gibbs. IMO.
