"So this reporter is using MCAs Death to attack the President"

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/may/6/curl-hip-hop-legend-mca-passes-on-obama-says-not-a/?page=1

Not that this is a surprise, the Washington Times is a conservative
paper, I believe owned by News Corp. I figured I'd mention that
the article lists Mr. Joseph Curl's (the reporter) e-mail as
jcurl@washingtontimes.com

Maybe you wanna let him know how you feel about this bullshit.

It seems like he just did it for the pub, notice how he tosses Trayvon Martin, Jay-Z and Kanye into this mess. How can he call himself a Beastie Boys fan? Did he really think this was a proper way to commemorate a legendary artist? As a fan, did he think of how Mr. Yauch's family might feel about the discussion that would be come from this article?

But is anyone else just relishing in the thick irony of this whole thing?

The Beasties were not exactly outspoken on Politics, but it doesn't take a complete dummy to recognize that this is the kind of public endorsement that anyone in the band, especially MCA, would have seen as unwanted and probably would have done his best to ignore.

Pretty hilarious that they've gotten so desperate as to resort to what essentially ends up as trolling.

....but he was nowhere near the legendary status of Whitney Houston or Michael Jackson.

Pioneer and legendary in his genre, sure. But it's totally undertandable how Obama could comment on Whitney and MJ and not MCA.

i don't think the president should be required to comment on every celebrity death, but if he wants to then he should feel free. not commenting shouldn't be taken as a slight, and really what difference does it make?

MJ had those issues in court and the Beastie were well.. the Beasties who had their fair share of controversry, not to mention the Free Tibet stance.

He didn't say anything when Levon Helm passed. I doubt that he personally knew MCA. Is he supposed to make a statement whenever any public figure dies?

. . .that if he HAD commented on it, Faux News would be the first to jump on him and criticize him for it.

Some people are just so staunch that what they're criticizing someone for isn't the point — it's just an excuse to spew forth more attacks on the other side.

And the fact that this pathetic excuse for a journalist is using the loss of MCA as a device for political attacks says worlds more about his lack of integrity than it does anything about our president.

They'd be posting up lyrics on the screen referencing rape with wiffle ball bats, showing clips of a inflatable penis and probably interview some old musicians complaining about how much the Beastie Boys made off them from sampling their music.

It was already on Drudge Report... That's all the publicity any political write-up needs. The GOP always tries to 'scoop up' artists that have died.

They tried it with Levon Helm just a few weeks ago.

"When accused pedophile and drug addict Michael Jackson died in 2009..."

Then this: "When Whitney Houston, a longtime crack addict, died this year..."

Who the fuck says that shit?

This guy is a douche and a terrible fucking writer.
