Era - An era is a reaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllyyyyyyy long period. Sure hip-hop used the term in the ebonic sense in order to attribute value to things in a hyperbolistic way, but this should not be carried over into serious discussion. Please do not refer to a decade as an era. Just identifying the decade will suffice. If you ever question whether something should be considered a musical era just think, how does it compare to the Baroque era.

Legend - A legend is a thing of the past. It's usually the hyperbolistic telling of a character of the pasts story. On rare occasions one can call someone a legend when they are doing legendary things which require legendary tales to explain. Rappers selling records is not legendary. (That said a rapper calling out the President of the United States is definitely the stuff of legend).

Hyperbole - This is a special one. For all intents and purposes we want to keep good fair use of this available, we only ask that you identify when you are speaking in hyperbolese. Should you fail to do so rather than a cease and desist we'll just stamp your abuse with the big HYPERBOLESE seal.
