"Kwame"

It's kinda messed up that Biggie shitted on this dude when he was seriously dope. His first record had some joints (the man we all know and love, the rhythm). I'm glad he made a lil' comeback producing records. What does the lesson think about him? Seems like he's sleeped on.

Kwame deaded his own career makeing stuff like "Nasty" and "Only you" by the time biggie said that Kwame was a joke in hip hop circles

his first lp was tight tho

not great or classic but a good representation of the era

Yes, it was very dancey and poppy compared to other artists, but that was Kwame's lane.

I liked how he used the female vocalist. The production was tight, and he crafted a cohesive album which actually told a story ("A Day In The Life"). Where he went wrong was the over-emphasis on the polka dots and the blatant Prince stanning he did all over that album and its videos. I definitely enjoyed his music more than folks like PM Dawn and the Dream Warriors.

He was "soft" or whatever.. but he was witty and funky.

Someone made a Kid N Play post the other day.. I kinda put him in that same bag since Herbie Luv Bug exec produced the LP; however, I think Kwame was/is WAY more musically talented than Kid n Play combined. I never bothered checking for Nastee.. I think the single combined with my developing tastes pretty much turned me off from checking it out.

I loved his first three albums, which meant I liked "Ownlee Ewe" and "Nastee". I think once he became Kwame 1Mil or whatever it was, he didn't have to worry or care about what people felt of him, because he was doing his think. I am sure there's a generation who have no idea of the polka dots.
