"was kid n play wack?"

i mean, they could be corny sometimes
but didn't they have some dope jams?
or is nostalgia paintin' my view
they was fresh, right?
aj3's, hightop fades, baggie zcavarici/skids, mock turtlenecks
that was the look back then
and they rocked it
they had dope beats...c'mon baby! bump ba bump, c'mon baby! we're gettin' funky...man, that video

what say yall...those that remember

i will say this...i was hurt when i bought that rob base tape, and it takes two was the only worthy joint on that shit

life always offers you a 2nd chance...it's called tomorrow. use it wisely

they could bring it live and they could dance.

problem with them though is that the film and the marketing of them and Kid's eraser high top got more attention than there schools.

back in the day me and Buddy were washing dishes at a restaurant and we did the Kid and Play dance with Hot plates in hand and a glove mitt in the other.

they were cool for a catchy cut and a respectable run. they were fun for there time.

they look like Hall of Fame material compared to the wackness out now.

Rob Base also had 'Joy and Pain'

and I was straight doin the K&P kickstep to that shit. I always liked Kid & Play. I had their tapes. Funny, fun Hip-Hop that was positive was always cool with me. They would do a lot of back and forth rhymes type battlin freestyling shit. or maybe I'm just rememberin house party. regardless. I never took them all that seriously.

Now, who was the better rapper?

lurkin since 1999. werd.

"Gittin Funky" was the jam. "Roll with Kid N Play" was a party jam with that Go-Go type of feel that Herbie Luv Bug liked to use back then. "Do This My Way" was banging. And I'm pretty sure they rocking that Grace Jones sample before even 2 Much recorded "Wild Thang."

I'll even say the second and third album had jams on them. Yeah, there was a bunch of corny shit too, but I actually preferred them to Fresh Prince.

...they wasn't always great, just two kats who had playful & positive rhymes & storylines 95% of the time; it was room for rappers who had that style of rap but still was good without being corny but I will admit after they did the House Party movie they WERE corny to my ears; "Last Night" & "Energy" was my jam though.

Yeah there was PE and RunDMC, but these guys had the machine behind them. Apart from their music, they had movies and a cartoon. I will forget the MC Hammer thing never happened for the sake of this discussion.

Their material suffered when they began to see that Hollywood paper. But they were dope for their time. Parents would allow their kids listen to K&P just off of House Party...don't know why though

like Heavy D, IMO. they neither tried too hard nor did they fake the funk... and that means a lot. named rappers gave 'em props. and actually, Kid rapped his ass off -- his "Exit Only" line in House Party still cracks me up to this day.

Never thought they were corny, maybe a little underrated honestly.

They had some dope beats, nice flows. I understand how they were considered corny, but they have a LOT of undeniable songs. "Last Night" is a great track.
